CFD Simulation of Two Phase Flow in Horizontal Pipes M.Tech Chemical Project
The Main Objective Of Providing This CFD Simulation of Two Phase Flow in Horizontal Pipes fin al year Chemical Engineering M Tech Project is to give basic abstract and introduction to all M Tech final Year graduates for their project selection. The main advantage of this system is to predict the transition of Two Phase Flow Regime in horizontal pipe with the help of FLUENT using the VOF Model. We have successfully developed this project in Master of Technology and results have helped understand type of flow regime especially in equipment’s like boilers and in transportation of oil and gases in pipelines. Findings are especially important due to the complexity of two-phase flow.

Optimal Blending Of Polanga Oil with Diesel in CI Engine Using Artificial Neural Networks
Introduction to the Mechanical Project:
The energy consumption is ever on the rise increasing global warming too. This has brought renewable energy source and alternate fuels into focus. Using biodiesel is another new option but it causes more environment damage than mineral fuels. Thus a viable option is blend biodiesel with other fuels to make it environment friendly and reduce the pressure on mineral fuels.
The project titled “Optimal Blending Of Polanga Oil with Diesel in CI Engine Using Artificial Neural Networks” describes special fuel called Polanga which when mixed with conventional diesel t the optimum level tends to operate at maximum load and minimum SFC. It also emits minimum amount of gases O2 and CO2. This project utilizes a neural network with nodes equal to the input parameters and output of nodes is equal to output parameters of engine. The optimal neurons are indicated t the maxima point.
Description:
The project Optimal blending of polanga oil with diesel in Ci engine using artificial neural networks employs a conventional single cylinder compression ignition diesel engine. Blending percentages of polanga are made with diesel fuel and results are experimentally deduced. By using a variable combination of speed and load, parameters like SFC, BHP and emissions of gases are experimentally determined out.
The artificial neural network used in this project, soft computing method is employed. The ANN model makes use of standard propagation algorithm for development of engine. The experimental and predicted results are compared and accordingly an optimized blending scheme is determined. The nature of ANN model comprises of multilayer perception, sigmoid activation function etc.
Conclusion:
From this project, a complete engine (different types of engine) can be modeled with the determination of all performance parameters with minimal error. It is pretty economic in nature and offers mobility. It’s also a tool for pattern specification.

Structural Properties and Characterization Issues of Clay Based Hybrid Nano composites
In the fabrication of advanced composites, hardware and circuit components epoxy is a versatile and accepted matrix material. Here, HNT clay is used as an enforcement material because of their nanoscale size and polymer numbers. The hybrid composition of glass-epoxy is designed by halloysite nanosize particles by chemical treatment. This chemical reaction is analyzed by the X-ray diffractometer.
This Project “Structural Properties and Characterization Issues of Clay Based Hybrid Nano composites” explains the characteristics and properties of epoxy and polymer glass reinforced hybrid composited. The wear tests have been conducted in the pin-on-disc type for different loads and percentage composition and respective changes of nanoparticles are studied.
Description:
In the paper Structural properties and characterization issues of clay based hybrid nanocomposites, X-ray diffraction is performed for clay particles as well as clay particles with epoxy and their interlayer separation is studied. This process is executed possessing a scanning rate of around 20 per minute which has a Cuka radiation that operates at 30 kV and 15 mA by the X-ray diffractometer.
The XRD results depict that the intensity of the nano particle size clay composites are quite lesser than functional nano clay composites. The wear test is conducted on pure epoxy of around 1%, 2% of nano particles with various combinations of loads and time. The wear rate is in inverse proportion with the hardness of the nanocomposites.
Conclusion:
In this paper, the characterization issues of the nano clay composite particles i.e. both functional as well as non-functional are studied with the aid of XRD technique. And on the study and analysis of these techniques the nano composites are prepared and conclusions are drawn from the results.
The nano clay particles that are non-functionalized aren’t properly dispersed in the matrix. However the functionalized nano particles are dispersed properly because of chemical treatment meted out to them.

Continuous Stirrer Tank Reactors In Series Project
This Continuous Stirrer Tank Reactors In Series Project is about Continuous stirrer tank reactors in series which contains pictorial, graphical and Experimental work of Continuous stirrer tank reactors. The report also explains about the Time constant during experiment and calculation of each tank. There are five Experiments explain in the report including Procedure, time constant, Graphical method, calculation of Experiments. The Experiments are Effect of a step input change, Response of tank concentration to an impulse Change, Influence of flow rate on a three tank system following a step change in input concentration,
Response to step change in input concentration of system comprising on one stirred vessel and dead time module, demonstration of the progress of a second order chemical reaction through three continuous stirred tank reactors in series.
The continuous stirred-tank reactor also called vat- or back mix reactor. It is a usual ideal reactor type in chemical engineering. A continuous stirred-tank reactor often pertains to a model used to estimate the key unit operation variables when using a continuous agitated-tank reactor to reach a specified output. The mathematical model acts for all fluids: liquids, gases, and slurries.
Conclusion:
Continuous stirred tank reactors in series have been studied experimentally in detail for their dynamic behavior. By introducing the step and impulse input changes in concentrations and flow rates of reagents, the system is confirmed to be first order. The step and impulse response curves are found to be the sigmoid and exponential respectively. Furthermore, saponification reaction is carried out and the effects of parameters are analyzed using the factorial design of experiments method.
The ‘reagents concentrations’ and ‘system temperature’ effects have been neglected during the analysis for optimization, but these may affect the process response considerably. Taking these into account for optimization of process parameters, one may get more beneficial values of conversion. First two and the third reactors may be connected in parallel, but obviously will have a low performance than the existing ones in series.
