Introduction to Brain Computer Interface seminar topic:
They are also called neural interface or brain machine interface. It is the direct link between human with an external device or animal with human. There are two categories of BCI, one way and two ways. One way send signal in one direction where two send signal in both the directions. Three types of BCI are used:
Applications:
– For mental typewrites. It is used by paralyzed patients that communicate through mental typewriters. This help the patients to write ad communicate.
– For doing special task through with real time EEG.
– For improving memory power and better recall of memory.
– It improves the human response in image processing.
InvasiveBCI: they provide new life to the paralyzed people. They produce best quality of signals and they are directly implemented into brain parts.
Partially invasive BCI: they are planted in skull instead of brain. They produce better resolution. It reduces the build of scars- tissue.
Non-invasive BCI: they have poor resolution capabilities but they restore the power in the muscles. They are very easy to wear. They produce electromagnetic waves created by neurons.
Cell culture BCIs: now the scientists have also built the interfaces that interact with neural cells outside the animal’s cells also. It uses Neuro chips made of semiconductors.
Brain gate: it is the brain implant technique for those who have list their capabilities over their limbs. It was first introduced in 2003 by bio-tech Company Cyber kinetics.
DARPA: Defense Advanced Research Project Agency, they have making such brain computers application to be used in tier flights that contact directly to the pilots.
Software: software works on three modes: simulation, training and recording. Simulation is used for the test purpose of the brain computer software. Whereas recording technique records the data for being used in future for training purpose.
