Project Report On Design and Fabrication of Pulse Tube Refrigeration System

The main aim of this PROJECT REPORT ON DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF PULSE TUBE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM is Cryogenics.

Cryogenics is the study of low temperature which means the entire phenomenon locates below -150°C or 123K. Cryogenic engineering is the design and development of systems and components to maintain, produce, or utilize low temperatures. The systems produce the refrigeration power at low temperature.

There is a strong requirement of cryocoolers for many applications. Infrared detectors, thermal imagers and night vision devices require form of cryogenic cooling for military purpose. The chips of semiconductors cryogenic cooling in the electronics improve the performance drastically to reduce the thermal noises. These are important part of the ultra clean high vacuum cryopumps utilized for high reliability in the manufacturing of semiconductors.

Cryocoolers are required for cryogenic surgery and conservation in the areas of medicine and cryobiology. These are very reasonable price, flexible in all weather conditions and high security is the important factor. Cryogenic temperatures are maintained and achieved with one or more refrigerating units called cryocoolers.

Gifford and Longsworth observed the cooling effect with a pulsating pressure inside the gas. It marks the promising cryogenic refrigerators called pulse tube refrigerator (PTR). The pulse tube system is the most researched project in the field of cryogenic refrigeration because of the absence of moving parts in the cold temperature region and simplicity and enhanced reliability. The pulse tube refrigerator used for cooling infrared detectors for missiles, military aircrafts, tanks, and night

Conclusion:

An orifice pulse tube refrigerator performance and characteristics are simulated successfully with a numerical method on a personal computer. Obtained input parameters give an optimum refrigeration power which avoids necessary laborious manual calculations.
