Introduction to Seminar Topic on DTM Dynamic Synchronous Transfer Mode:
The main objective of this DTM is to provide high speed network. As the usage of networks is increasing day by day, users expect high speed data transmission. As a result ,this technology was developed.
DTM can be defined as a form of circuit switching which uses time division multiplexing for dynamically reallocating available bandwidth to users. This DTM has ability to adapt bandwidth based on traffic. By using this DTM, Providers are able to provide high speed communication for enterprises, residential and small offices.
Brief into DTM:
This DTM can be used in both distribution and communication such as application communication. DTM mainly makes use of circuit and packet switching for building high speed networks. Network resources are reserved throughout the way from sender to receiver before the transfer is started, and circuit is created in circuit switching networks.
By using this circuit switching large amount of data can be transferred with a guaranteed transmission. Packets are used to support high speed transmission even in huge traffic. DTM has been designed for unidirectional medium which is shared by all the nodes connected. DTM channels have properties like simplex, multicast, multirate and Renegotiated.
DTM has two different techniques for transmitting IP traffic i.e IP over DTM and DLE. IP over DTM uses the DTM networks for transmitting IP traffic on a hop-by-hop basis. DLE can be used for establishing virtual LANs across the DTM network which makes it possible to attach IP nodes to the DTM network.
