Audio Watermarking Objective:
The main objective of this Audio Watermarking technical white paper is its presentation in an engineering seminar for highlighting the need of audio watermarking in the present day scenario of hi-tech development of internet. Digital data, either audio or visual are represented by binary bits of 0 or 1. They can simultaneously be shared by myriad of users by distributing the same over the network and can be stored for long period without being damaged. Because of public exposure, the propriety of the data can be hijacked unethically by a number of ways such as re-sampling, mp3 compression, low-pass filtering, and amplitude scaling. A new technique called audio watermarking protects the copyright interest with regard to audio data.
Some of Audio Watermarking salient features:
The special features of audio watermarking are that it is transparent, robust, efficient and independent of type and format. It may be classified in two ways. In temporal water marking, watermarks are hidden directly into the digital audio signals in the time domain. In the special watermarking, transfer of frequency is applied such as FFT, SCT and DW and the water marked information is veiled under the transformed data block.
A bit of Audio Watermarking applications:
Audio watermarking can be applied by any of the schemes such as DC level shifting in which watermark is embedded by shifting the DC level of the audio signal that does not need the original signal and the watermark. Frequency Masking has no robustness to filtering as watermark is embedded to all frequency bands. Brand Division on QMF scheme and Spread Spectrum schemes can provide protection against the mp3 compression. It can be concluded in the seminar that watermark can be embed onto an audio signal without detection but being perceived as required. Extraction without the original signal and the watermark is known as blind otherwise public audio watermarking.
