Introduction to Technical Seminar Presentation on Classical Cryptography:
Cryptography is the art of protecting data. It helps to transmit data from sender to destination safely. Here data is encrypted i.e. it is converted into unreadable form and sent to destination.
It provides the access of information to valid users only. Whereas cryptanalysis is the science of breaking secure information and these are also known as attackers.
There are various types of classical cryptographies the mono-alphabetic substitution includes, Caesar Cipher which was used about 2000 years ago by Caesar. The first application was used in military affairs. And the key followed is every letter is replaced by 3rd letter. Hence the key is 26 letters long.
The poly-alphabetic substitution cipher includes Vigenere Cipher, which is used for improving the security by many mono alphabetic substitution alphabets. Hence each letter is replaced by other letters. The translation is based on keyword and the translation alphabets are then mapped to plaintext letters. Whereas hill cipher uses a multi-letter encryption process i.e. it is used to encrypt m letters of plaintext at each step. The key is a m*m matrix of coefficients. If we consider transposition cipher it includes Reverse cipher that means writing the message backwards, Rail Fence cipher includes writing the message with letters on alternate rows, Geometric cipher involves writing the message with one pattern and reading the text with other.
We can conclude that the cryptography concept was undergoing a lot of development since many days .developments are being done on methods of digital steganography. In the world of research and development new concepts like quantum cryptography are been developed. Where Cryptography is the art of protecting data and helps to transmit data from sender to destination safely.
