Java Servlets CSE Seminar Topic

Introduction to Java Servlets CSE Seminar Topic:

Servlets are basically programming classes dealing the request-response communication between a sever and a client. Servlets are in Java platform of Sun Microsystems. Earlier the W3C authorities had utilized Common Gateway Interface (CGI) to to process vital information on internet. But CGI had lot of flaws such as creation of new process on each request which not only led to a decrease in server performance but also left it less secured. Application Programming Interface (API) was then brought as replacement for CGI but then it was like a one server associate and one small bug would bring the whole server down.

Sun introduced Servlets in order to overcome the disadvantages of its earlier predecessors. Based on the Object oriented concept servlets were more dynamic and secure. Servlets came under Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE) which also involved technologies such as Remote Method Invocation and Enterprise Java Beans to access legacy systems and also Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) which helps in connecting the front end and the back end.

A servlets is based on Java API which mainly is associated with HTTP protocol to generate a response based on a client’s request. Java Package contains the Servlet API’s and to deploy or run this servlets, web Containers are used. A servlet’s life cycle is defined based on public methods namely init(), service() and destroy(). While init method helps to initiate a web applet before processing a request, service method handles requests such as Get, Post which is processed by methods like doget() or dopost().

Parameters which servlets follow are:

• HTTP Servlet request parameter

• HTTP Servlet response parameter

Both the above parameters are controlled by HTTP Session class. Destroy method is called once before the servlets are de-boarded from further service.

There are 3 different types of Servlet attributes:

• Set

• Get

• Remove.

To run a servlet application, first it is copied into Java Web Server directory and the necessary path is given in the browser.

An Event-Based Framework For Object-Oriented Analysis CSE Seminar Topic

Introduction to An Event-Based Framework For Object-Oriented Analysis CSE Seminar Topic:

Software industry is the most rapidly growing industries in the world it is certainly one of the most profitable business ventures as well, provided there are lots of planning and precise decisions undertaken to ensure the smooth functioning of the company. Many expenses should be met by the company management such as employee costs, infrastructure costs, software licenses and upgrades etc. Basic source of income for any software company is their software projects being done for many reputed companies. The failure of software will not only bring bad reputation, the financial profits will also take a hit.

There should be a plan in place to ensure that each project the company takes are feasible, both technically and economically. Poor requirement collection and subsequent ill planning may lead to the premature failure of the software. There should be an analysis method in place in order to minimize errors and to make the software cost efficient

Steps taken in the software analysis

  • Software requirement analysis: The first process in creating any software is the requirement collection. This process contains various procedures such as conceptual modeling which includes making models like Entity Relation(ER), Data Flow (DFD) etc.. In Object Oriented Requirement Analysis, the actual world existing objects are shaped using object classes showing the relation between them.
  • Complexity Metrics: Software complexity is a major factor it depicts the amount of work software is got to do in the installed system. Too much complexity is considered unhealthy for software. One of the mostly used complexity metric is the cyclomatic complexity
  • Software Testing : Various methods are used to test the software such as model based testing, Unit testing etc. which will help reduce the bugs

Event has a major role in all the above three steps in analysis, events are modeled on various aspects such as for graphic user interface testing etc. An effort must be put forward for a complete analysis so that there are no errors in the software.

Advanced Techniques in RDBMS CSE Seminar Topic

Introduction to Advanced Techniques in RDBMS CSE Seminar Topic:

Database management system (DBMS) is used as a method to easily retrieve, add, modify, or remove data. There are basically two types of data’s; logical data, like the values stored in a computer program and physical data, like a file or receipt. RDMS is a DBMS that manages the relational database; RDBMS has become a predominant choice for the storage of information in new databases which has been used for financial record, logistical records, data’s which personal etc are.

Relational database management system (RDBMS) broke all data down into collections of objects or relations that store the actual data (i.e., tables). A set of operators were introduced by RDBMS so that it could act on the related objects to produce other objects like for e.g. joining conditions to produce a new result set. Data consistency, accuracy and overall integrity were ensured by the proposed model.

Relational model basics:

Existing data’s are viewed as two dimensional or 2-D tables known as relations

Unique attributes (columns) and tuples (rows) are the two components of a relation ( table )

Tuples are unique and are not repetitive

Unlimited no: of values can be inserted into the columns or in some other case no values would be inserted into the columns, such cases will be represented by a null value

A Null value is not the same as zero, blank or an empty string

A database whose logical organization is whole based on relational data model is called a Relational database

This paper is focused on the security and scalability issues faced by system administrators when implementing a centralized reporting infrastructure. This paper looks at the functionality available within the Oracle Reports Server to address these issues, and indicates the tasks required to implement it. It does not cover the design of the Reports Server and assumes a basic understanding of the architecture and the methods required to implement it.

Peer2peer Harnessing CSE Project Abstract

Introduction to Peer2peer Harnessing Project:

Most of the current network scenario around us relies heavily on client-server architecture. The main advantage of client-server application like the internet is that unlimited data packets can be sent to any nook and corner of the world within milliseconds. In peer to peer network (P2P) there aren’t need for separate servers instead the client system can also be doubled as a server system.  P2P can be setup anywhere anytime, be it at company, home or even online, it just needs systems using same compatible program. The connected systems can share files, browse and even control the operating tools remotely. In P2P network each connected system is termed as a “node”. To make the system accessible to the P2P users, usually a part of the system assets like hard disk space or bandwidth are shared.  The main advantage if a P2P system is that absolutely no servers are required and a single system can act as both sender and receiver. In client server architecture though a client system where a server will send and client will receive only.

Advantages of P2P

  • No separate server is needed for transferring files as a system can act as both client and server
  • With all systems having access to one another it is easy to transfer digital data
  • With more nodes, the performance of a P2P network increases in sharp contrast to what happens in client-server architecture where more clients will actually decrease the server performance.

P2P is evolving from time to time, if it started as a technology but it is now has also involved in social process too. In a distributed network it acts a vital connection.

Two types of P2P networks:

  • Structured P2P Network: Follow certain set of algorithms and would be organized
  • Unstructured P2P Network: No axial system, all peers are connected temporarily with each other

In this modern world more and more people are coordinating with each other to create non-profitable social peers which are commonly known as commons-based peer production.

Web caching CSE Seminar Topic

Introduction to Web caching CSE Seminar Topic:

Web caching is a mechanism used for storing web documents in an temporary storage. Hear we use client side proxy catching; the data from the web are cached in the proxy near the clients to avoid repeated round-trip delays between the clients and the server.

Several algorithm are implemented for catch replacement to maximize the delay in saving data, such as LRV,LWU and LGR are used for Web cache optimization.

The increase in the use of World Wide Web has led to a considerable increase in amount of traffic over the Internet has become a primary bottlenecks to network performance.

While user request a page the server needs to transfer data to client which leads to increase traffic in network when he loads the page more than one time , all the data needs to be reloaded from the server, so here comes the use of web catch where the frequently used data are been stored in the catch near to the client such that the system need not reload all data from the server, only the main data which are frequently changed  while reloading the page is to retrieved from the server.

By using the client side proxy caching, the object or data cached near the clients should avoid repeated round-trip delays between the client and the server, we use the advance catching algorithms.

Which differ from the conventional ones in consideration of size, fetching delay, reference rate, invalidation cost, and invalidation frequency of a Web objects. Over all hit ratio can be further improved

HTTP defines three basic mechanisms for controlling catches: freshness, validation, and invalidation. Web browser catch stores cache content on the client machine, it may be in memory on disk. Web caches can be used in various systems like:

  • Search engine
  • Web proxy sitting between client and the server
  • Content delivery network

web cache Seminar report covers detailed explanation on different topics.

Online Communities Service Projects

Introduction to Online Communities Service Projects:

An online community consists of a collection of people who vests similar interests in a certain subject. They can communicate each other through this community and share their ideas, thoughts and even files.  People involve in all sorts of online communities, based mainly on location, religion, sports etc. Online communities have evolved over these years, from a small text chat application to voice chat rooms to a complete live video conferencing; it has come a very long way. Most communities will be consumer focused or business to business focused.

Classification of online communities:

  • Discussion: Includes various online forums where a user can comment on various topics
  • Task Oriented: In this users has to complete a goal assigned to them like online exams.
  • Virtual World: Users can play games online or create a virtual avatar of themselves

The first major goal of any online community is to attract new memberships, once a member a user is Ssubjected to the pros and cons of the community world.  Some go a long way to become the most valued members of the community or some may falter out of the way due to lack of interest or the emergence of a new and stronger rival community. Many terms are coined for the users in a community such as inbound, inside, boundary etc. depending on their current status in the community.

Bonding of its members is a key in the success of online communities. Members should show commitment towards a community during its bad times and sometimes should take the leadership responsibility as well. The egos and false pride has to be kept away and messages should be spelled out carefully without hurting anyone.

Some advantages of online communities:

  • A place to come together for persons of similar interests, ideology and thoughts
  • Allow users to communicate through voice, text or video mediums
  • Enhance people’s reputation by projecting them in a good way
  • No work hours, is active 24*7
  • Easy access to persons in far off places

Data Storage Device CSE Seminar Topic

Introduction to Data Storage Device CSE Seminar Topic:

A data storage device is a device for storing and retrieving information. Electromagnetic data may be stored in either an analog or digital format, Most of electrically processed storage media are of two types Volatile (which losses data when power is lost) and Non-Volatile (store data permanent).

Storage Hierarchy can be subdivided into 4 types,

  • Primary Storage (Main Memory or Internal Memory)

Primary memory is one which can be directly accessible by processor, Ram (Random access memory) are used for primary memory which is an volatile memory, Ram is directly or indirectly connected to the central processing unit via a memory bus. It is actually two buses (not on the diagram): an address bus and a data bus. As ram is volatile (cleared at startup) computer needs to store a startup program which should be a non-volatile i.e. BIOS, used to is used to bootstrap the computer, which is also called as Rom (Read only memory)

  • Secondary Storage ( External Memory or Auxiliary storage)

Secondary storage does not lose the data when the device is powered down it is an non-volatile memory, we use magnetic and optical  device to store data such as hard disk, cd/dvd. They have longer access time compared to primary memory. Some other secondary drive are flash drive or EEPROM (eg: USB disk), floppy disks, magnetic tape, paper tape, punched cards

  • Tertiary Storage

Tertiary memory involves robotic mechanism which will mount (insert) and dismount removable mass storage media into a storage device according to the system’s demands; this data is often copied to secondary storage before use.

  • Of Line Storage

Which is an storage device which is not under the control of processing unit, which can be disconnected of dismounted after the use.

Some of the other storage techniques are

  • Vaccume tube memory
  • Electro Acoustic Memory
  • Phase Charge Memory
  • Holographic Data Storage
  • Molecular Memory

Wearable Gestural Interface Device-Sixth Sense Technology CSE Seminar Topic

Introduction to Wearable Gestural Interface Device-Sixth Sense Technology Topic:

Wearable Gestural Interface Device-Sixth Sense Technology CSE Seminar Topic explains about five basic senses of the human body comprises of vision, touch, smell, taste and hear, Sixth Sense is a term which we have usually heard or even experiences. It has something greater than what their physical senses are able to perceive, some people call it super natural

The Sixth Sense technology was first implemented in real world was the neck worn projector + camera system. This project has a device that builds up the physical world with digital information and also allows user’s hand for system interaction

Main Project Elements Used:

• A pocket projector

• A mirror,

• A camera.

• Mobile component

• Colored marker

This project acts like a touch screen device sans a touch pad; user’s can move or drag pictures with their hand on virtual screens. This can make our own gesture which our sixth sense device can understand, and can change the Sixth Sense to our need. Various colored codes or markers are placed on user’s fingers to analyze movements and gestures. In order to zoom in or out the fingers are moved as if in a touch screen device, the thumb and index fingers are moved proportionally to and fro to zoom in or out. The finger movements can also be used to draw pictures.

This compatible device which is connected via bluetooth to a smart phone device comprises of a camera, mirror glass, projector etc. The camera lens captures the person, various images and pick, hand gestures and signals etc which are in turn send to the smart device for further processing. The projector is then used to project the image straight on the mirror which in turn will reflect back the image on a particular area or surface. The final projected image is placed wherever we wants and is vacated from any confinement.

This project also deals with other technologies like mobile communications, image recognition, markers technology, and multimedia computer vision based techniques.

Some of the main advantages of this project are, device is portable, inexpensive, multi-sensory, connectedness. It acts as an interface between the world and information.

Palm Vein Biometrics CSE Project Report

Introduction to Palm Vein Bio metrics Project:

In this modern techno savvy world, the chances of an unauthorized access is much higher. Most companies hire security systems that may include normal authentications such as an ID and biometric systems to guarantee authorized access to their premises. Biometric systems uses various anatomical info’s like iris, fingerprint scanning or capture behavioral patterns like handwriting , voice recognition etc. The image pattern of the palm vein captured by the scanner is stored in the database. Palm Vein patterns are unique for every individual as his fingerprint or iris.

Present Biometric System Disadvantages:

In case of fingerprint scanner, it would be impossible to authenticate a person who has lost fingers. If the finger has mud or other external factors in it, then the scanner may not work.Facial recognition system may fail if a human face is subjected to a change in shape, style or size. A person’s voice can also be duped leaving voice authentication systems vulnerable.

Advantages:

• Palm veins are broader in size and its blood vein patterns are complex in structure, this makes it unique for each human being and thereby provides more security while authentication

• Skin characteristics independent

•Is a non-contact technology

The first step in using this technology is to keep one’s palm parallel to the device at some distance. Using Infrared (IR) technology the device then would take a pic of the palm veins with reflection and transmission methods. The sensor in the device generates an image of the pattern of the veins in the palm and stores into a database digitalized and encrypted. For storing image various processes takes place such as binary zing the vein image, detecting the edges of the palm and noting the key points for the curvature of the fingers. Vein extraction is done by 2D Gaussian function .

Dynamic Positioning System Seminar Report

Introduction to Dynamic Positioning System Seminar Report:

Dynamic positioning (DP) System is a computer technology mainly used in vessels that transports oil. This technology helps in the positioning of vessels and maneuvers them by controlling the active thrust. Many sensors are provided which helps in noting the current geographical position, wind rate and other factors which helps in maintaining the current position and heading of the vessel.

Dynamic Positioning Systems Principles Design and Applications Includes:

A master computer and a control console which are the primary control elements and are controlled by a DP Operator. Single, dual or triple systems are provided based on the vessel security priority. A control console also known as bridge console sends and receives data

Thrusters and propulsion systems which includes a main propulsion rudders, tunnel thrusters, azimuth thrusters and a thruster control

Position controlling systems allows the DP Operator to know the exact positioning of the vessel. This includes a differential GPS navigation, hydro acoustic systems, light taut wire, laser based systems such as Fanbeam , CyScan etc.

Heading reference systems which includes gyrocompass, gyroscopes, combined sensors etc.

Environment reference systems are used to sense the environmental forces which effects the positioning and direction of the vessel. This includes wind sensors, vertical and motion references

Power Generation systems such as UPS, diesel engines, alternators which manages the power generation inside the vessels. Good power systems maximize fuel efficiency.

To maintain the current position of the vessel, a lot of factors including the external forces like wind should be taken into account. In shipping terms the terms coined for positioning are the sway, surge& yaw, while the first two helps the vessel maintain its position; yaw denotes the direction of the vessel heading. These 3 constitutes the DP functions. If the person who is controlling the DP wishes to change the vessel course, all the operator to do is to change the input in the console and also control the speed.
