Threats of Different Types of Storage Devices Seminar Topic

In general in the recent time period there are different types of the existing threats related to the privacy of the information that is stored in the end user devices like the computers, the customer devices like phones, digital accessories, the different types of the removable storage devices such as the USB, memory card, the external hard drive, CD as well as DVD. The threats are of two types such as unintentional and the intentional.

The human based errors are referred to as the unintentional errors. The intentional threats will takes place because of the different types of motivations such as troubles and interruptions along with different attacks. The thefts and device losses are the major threats that will takes place in the end user devices. The other specific problem is that the individual who is having the physical access of the devices then that individual will be able to access and copy the information which is stored in those particular devices.

The other threat is that the insider attacks which means one employee accessing the information of the other employee by using the devices. The Malware is happened to be one of the other important threat which will allow the unauthorized access to the devices for the different attackers in order to transmit the information from the device that belongs to the attacker system and will carry out some activities such as the exposing the confidential information present in the device. The various types of threats that are towards the devices of end users will always allow access of the information present in it to the unauthorized users.

For protecting the information from these types of threats, there is a necessity of the using the strong security measures. There is even a need of protecting the components that belongs to the end user devices such as the operating system because it plays a vital role in storing the information. The encryption as well as the authentication is considered as the two significant aspects that can be used for the purpose of securing the data from the unauthorized access and users.

The encryption is the process which is applicable to the individual file which is having the secret information which will encrypt the entire data stored in the devices. The specific solutions for the encryption are totally based on the types of data, and quantity of data that is to be secured the environmental circumstances, location as well as the reduction levels of threats.

In general there are three different types of the encryption solutions for these threats such as the full disk encryption, the volume as well as the virtual disk encryption, the file or else the folder encryption. The specific encryption method is used based on the security requirements of the devices.

Computer and Network Security Project Ideas

Introduction to Computer and Network Security Project:

The computer networks is the set of two or more computers which are been organized together to complete the communication by making use of the different types of the data communication protocols by means of the communication media.

As a result these specific computers will be capable of sharing the information, the programs and the data. The different types of the data communications carried out by these computers are the text data, the images, audio as well as the video.

Purpose statement and motivation

The main reason for selecting Investigation and Critical Analysis of the Effects of Various Storage Media on Computer and Network Security  specific topic is that I my self will always use the computer and its devices for different purposes. But when I stored the information by using some storage devices and I was faced with the different problems like the data loses and some of the hackers have entered into my system and corrupted my significant data.

For this reason I have decided to get more information on the security problems in the storage devices and by this research process I got an opportunity to conduct a research on storage devices with their vulnerabilities. After completing this research work I wish to provide my valuable views and ideas for the future work.

Library Operations Using EJB Java Project Report

Introduction to Library Operations Using EJB Java Project:

Enterprise Java Bean (EJB) is a server-sided component, used for modular construction of enterprise applications. EJB encapsulates the business logic of an application. EJB was originally developed in 1997 by IBM, later adopted by Sun Microsystems. EJB provides a standard way to implement the back-end business code found in enterprise applications. EJB handle some common concerns or responsibilities such as: persistence, transactional integrity and security in a standard way.

EJB provides the following responsibilities:

  • Transaction processing
  • Concurrency Control
  • Asynchronous Method invocation
  • Job scheduling
  • Naming and directory services (JNDI)
  • Remoting using web services
  • Security
  • Deployment of software components in an application server.

Library operations need to be developed using Enterprise Java Bean (EJB), the procedure for the development are:

  • First we need to import the required packages
  • Next create remote interfaces for bean, and name the remote interface as lib Remote. Declare methods such as issue(), return(), with a return type.
  • Next step is to create a home interface with a name lib Home, and create method within that with two arguments as stud id and book id, and return type is lib Remote interface that throws create exception and Remote exception.
  • Next create a Bean class with a name lib Bean implementing the session bean issue(),  now compare the book id and bid in the array, if the status is zero, book can be issued. If status is not zero, then that particular book is not available to be issued and same will be updated in the array, results are returned to the client.
  • All abstract method are added to the session Bean, in EJB pass Sid and bid are created.
  • Now create client class as LibClient, and import the entire required package, within the try block enclose the code for:

               I.            Authentication

               II.            Object creation for initial context

              III.            JNDI is used to lookup a reference to object return type, and create method can be assigned to the remote interface object.

            IV.            Now call the method in session bean: issue(), return().

             V.            Result will be displayed in client side.

Latest CSE Project Report on Integrated Library System

Introduction to Integrated Library System:

Request for proposal (RFP) is the heart of a library system purchase and it is the coordinated effort between members of library staff to develop coherent statement of library’s mission, needs and expectations. Integrated library system (ILS) is also known as library management system or library automation, it is an enterprise resource planning system for a library. It tracks items owned, orders made by library, bills paid from library and members who all have borrowed books from library.

ILS contains relational database, a software to interact with database and two GUIs, one for members and one for staff.

Organizations make use of RFP tool to purchase products and services by encouraging proposals from different vendors. An outline of an RFP includes:

  • Problem statement summary and needs for procurement
  • A section about administrative information
  • A definite technical requirements and information section
  • Requirements for managing and implementing project
  • Vendor qualifications and references requests
  • A section for vendors to specify other relevant information not already specified elsewhere.
  • Guidelines and license agreements for purchase contract, nondisclosure agreements and other legal documents.
  • Appendix with institutions relevant information such as network diagrams, technical requirements studies and project plan outlines.

Before RFP process begins, a library’s purchase team should understand how ILS market is shaping development. An RFP is a good tool for keeping vendors honest, sales rep may tell that new system is great, but official request for a bid document gives the library concrete details on exactly what the system can do, and how it addresses existing problems in library.

An RFP is long and tedious document, an unpleasant to read as it is to write. Libraries work from basic models of RFPs to speed up the process. This method saves librarian from boredom and conserves their energy for more important tasks.

Project Report on Cluster Computing

Introduction to Cluster Computing Project:

There are two types of applications namely cluster aware and cluster unaware applications. A cluster aware application is one which know whether it is running on a cluster or a standalone computer. In this way, it can communicate with other nodes. Another is cluster unaware applications. These don’t know on which computer they are running and hence require additional software for communication.

The components of a cluster are nodes, operating system, network switching hardware, and the node/switch interconnect. First is, application, which are those applications that are running parallel on the nodes. These include different query running on the nodes. This is the input part of the cluster. Second is middleware, which is the software package that acts as an interface between the applications and the operating system. Third is operating system which is used for proper functioning of the nodes. Fourth is interconnect which is a hardware used to connect the nodes. Lastly, there are nodes which are the computers.

Cluster Nodes: In the new node technology the nodes are kept in a rack. These nodes are uniprocessor computers and are connected to a server that gives high processor density decreasing the covered area. This system gives high performance, high speed, large storage but amazingly less cost. There are two parts in this, master node and slave node. The master node is the key node and has major responsibility like handling file system, monitor the health status of slave nodes, and also clustering middleware. On the other hand the slave nodes are the fully functional standalone computers.

Database Design and Implementation Course Work Report

Report: This report is on database design and implementation

Here in this application we have a table which gives the information about the course details, course work numbers due date, number of hours to complete the course and learning out comes also. So that we can easily understand what is there further in that course.

Then the Plagiarism report and course work submission requirements regulations also mentioned here. Some specifications are also given here.

This application is based on library system. The specifications can give the information about library system. In this the library is going to used by students and staff member.  And the students from out campus can use the library and the library having journals, electronic books, video and audio collections. And the library needs to maintain the list of borrowers and number of copies of books.

Library need to maintain the Author names, Titles, Key word, category and year of publication. Library staff is divided into librarian, school associate librarian, reference librarians. Books can be cheeked out and need to maintain the reports. Priority can be give to the borrowers.

Applications:

To create the database in SQL serve we need to install SQL serve. In that page in object explorer we need to create new database for library system.

Syntax:

           CREATE DATABASE database _name

To create a table in database the syntax is give as CREATE TABLE table  _name( colum_name1 data_type,column_name2,….)

For A1: CREATE TABLE barrower (barrower _name char, barrower _id NOT NULL int, barrowed _item varchar)

Here we used the constraint NOT NULL. So that the Colum name barrowed _id value won’t be not null. There should be some value and that should be UNIQUE to avoid the replication in data base.

We can create that table using PRIMARY KEY also. It uniquely identifies the records in database, and one table should have one primary key. If we want to have PRIMARY KEY on multiple columns we have different syntax.

Example:

CREATE TABLE barrower (barrower _name varchar NOT NULL, barrower _id int NOT NULL, barrowed _item int, CONSTRAINT PK _barrower _id  PRIMARY KEY (barrower _name, barrower _id)

For A2: CREATE TABLE barrowed _item(item  _name char, item _id int, barrowed _date int)

Here we will get the table barrowed item. The columns are item name, item id, and barrowed date. The date format can be given. In SQL the supporting formats are

DATE – format YYYY-MM-DD

DATETIME – format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS

SMALLDATETIME – format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS

For A3: CREATE TADLE categories (category _name varchar, category _number int)

Example:

CREATE TABLE categories (short lone char, ordinary lone varchar , reference item varchar )

The table will give the information about the short lone, ordinary lone and reference items.

For A4: CREATE TABLE title(title _name varchar, published year int, language _name char, binding _type varchar)

ForA5: SELECT *from barrower where barrower _id=bw _id;

SELECT * from barrowed _item where barrowed _date=bw _dt;

Here we need to link the two tables barrower and barrower _item. The required book is there in the barrower table and the date of each barrowing is given by the table barrowing _item.

ForA6:CREATE TABLE book _details(title varchar, genus varchr, length _minutes int,date _production int, publisher _name varchar)

GSM Technology Project Report

Formal Reports – A recursive View

Abstract

Research or development is effectively useless if it is not communicated to other people. Many mediums for this communication exist, e.g. books, scientific papers, reports, television and lectures. Each medium is appropriate to the material it is to be used to impart. A formal report is often used to communicate laboratory work. To ensure that such reports achieve their aim, it is necessary to adopt a common format for that report. This document describes a common format and explains some ramifications and thoughts that lie behind the choice of that format.

Introduction

The results of laboratory work are always important. Even if an experiment failed it is still necessary to report and share results, not merely to record them. If results are not communicated, or the communication is itself a failure, then appropriate conclusions or courses of action cannot be taken; the work then becomes effectively insignificant. It is therefore important that scientific work be imparted in a proper manner. Many mediums exit for the proper and successful communication. A formal report is that medium chosen for the proper communication of laboratory work.

Theory

Overview

Communication of scientific work often takes a similar format, whatever the chosen medium is. This format can be summarise d as:

  • summary or abstract;
  • introduction;
  • theory;
  • procedure;
  • results;
  • discussion and further work;
  • conclusions;
  • references and appendices

It is advised that a formal report follows closely this format.

Summary or Abstract

The abstract should be a brief summary of the contents of the report. This is the part which is mostly used to understand the subject area and the nature of the report and great care should be taken when it is written.

Introduction

The introduction should briefly place work in its appropriate context and gently “lead in” to the subject of the report. It should describe other, closely related, work in the field – using reference where necessary – hence placing the work in its historical and technical context.

Theory

The major theory required by a reader to understand the work should be described. It may sometimes be necessary to omit this section or place its content in appendices.

Procedure

A description of the experimental procedure should cover techniques, equipment and components used, and their limitations (where appropriate).

Results

Results should be presented, highlighting important features, so as to draw the reader’s attention to the success of the work. Much use should be made of graphs, waveforms and tables, if applicable.The results of a scientific work are always difficult to assess. In preparing for this, you as the author should ask yourself does it achieve its objectives? Is it a clear report? Have there been any mistakes? etc…

Discussion (and further work)

The results of the work should be discussed and explained, compared with theory to validate results. It is sometimes impossible to distinguish between results and their perusal, and it may be advantageous to combine these sections.

Conclusions

The conclusions should briefly underline major results and their relevance and importance.

References and Appendices

Any references cited should be placed in a list after the conclusion. Appendices should contain material not directly relevant to the main body of the report, i.e. specifications of components.

Note: The above structure obviously will not suit all reports. Sometimes it may be necessary to omit some sections, sometimes to include others. The sections you should never omit are the abstract, the introduction, the discussion and the conclusions.

MCA Java Project on Packet Transport Service

Introduction to Packet Transport Service Project:

The packet transport service is of less quality and not persistent in the representative packet switched networks which also consists of IP Networks. These packets are some times loss because of improper buffering of the packets at switching nodes, the packets may also not of use due to highly errors in the bits and does not pass the cyclic redundancy check link layer or gone out due to the congestion in response of network control mechanisms. The end to end loss packets can be procured by Forward error correction (FEC) coding.

The FEC application can be very useful from the end users view; the FEC can retrieve the loss packets by the help of redundant packets. From the Network’s view the FEC schemes at end nodes enhances the raw packet loss rate concludes with the transmission of redundant packets. So to maximize the end to end performance the redundancy volume is added and the loss of packets in the Network can lead to be identified.

The project is the analysis of packet level FEC coding implies the interlaced Reed- Solomon codes in disputing with the network packet loss and then gives the information and combine theory procedures to identify the packet loss and maximum loss within end to end performances. The maximum redundancy and channel coding rate is not sufficient to fill the packet loss. Increased overhead the cause the raw packet loss creates the low packet recovery ability of the FEC code.

The Project is aimed at the calculating the packet loss by FEC to recover the loss by applying residual packet loss on the IP networks. The end to end performance has equivalent to the source coding rate which gets support from the fixed residual packet loss. The procedure implemented is applied for the optimum load or congestion which is helped by the coding parameters. The block interference channel is completely exchanged by network transport channel has bound on FEC performance.

The project is developed by JAVA, JavaSwing for the Front end program, JFRAME BUILDER tool used, and Windows XP operating system.

The Hardware requirements are Pentium processor 2.6 GHz, Pentium 20 GB, 512 MB RAM.
