Privacy Preserving Data mining (PDDP) Seminar Report

Whenever there is some sensational data released by government or corporates often we see lot of controversy happening around. Some people complain of invading their privacy and demand to remove offensive content from the data declaration. Imagine the trauma a HIV patient goes through when it is revealed in front of the world that he is infected or more recently the negative effect of social media where anyone from anywhere can post offensive and provocative content. All such uncontrolled data publishing should be screened and monitored so that privacy of an individual or an institution is preserved.  Privacy preserving data publishing ensures that privacy is preserved while the data gets revealed or shared; it is done using some techniques and methods according to corresponding situation and scenarios.

Approaches in PPDP:

Micro Data Publishing:  Includes public census for government records, the details such as name, DOB, job profiles etc. are taken from members of a family. The disclosure of most of this data would be minimal.

Data Anonymization: There is a huge amount of risks associated with the disclosure of sensitive data, it must be anonymized before publishing. All explicit and quasi identifiers are replaced with mellowed down and inconsistent data.

The data publishing process includes various persons such as

  • The individual from whom data is collected
  • The collection agent
  • The adversary
  • The end user who uses the data

The components taken care while publishing the data are sanitization mechanism, privacy criterion and utility metric. Disclosures can be both positive and negative and each is denoted by separate anonymization algorithms. Then there is also uninformative principle in which additional info are added by the adversary. PDPP also includes algorithms and analysis methods like k-Anonymity, I-Diversity, Closeness, utility analysis, anonymization techniques, distance measures and other experiments. Each technique adapts different methods to preserve data privacy.

Seminar Topic on Intel Chipsets

Often we see a computer as a simple machine which does our work more easy and efficient, but the reality is that it is itself made of complex components and parts. A CPU mainly consists of a mother board which is the heart of a computer, microprocessor, SMBS, bus cables, chipsets, fans etc. Out of this the chipset is often the adhesive that connects the mother board to the microprocessor. Chipsets are used not only in computers but in other devices like tablets, phones etc.  Chipsets are also used for communication with other component of a computer and also helps in controlling the communication between outer devices and the processor.

So what are chipsets actually; chipsets are a term coined for a collection of circuits integrated together which works for a no: of purposes together.  Usually when we install drivers on computers, we find chipset drivers for graphics, sound, network etc. The first ever chipset was created by Chips and Technology for IBM computer, it was termed New Enhanced AT chipsets or in short NEAT chipset. In the computer architecture chipsets are often placed on the motherboard or expansion card slots.

The two basic parts of Chipset on a PC are:

Northbridge:  Attach to the processor through the front sidebus, enhances the memory access for CPU and also connects itself to the memory, graphic controllers

South Bridge: Slow in pace as the info has to travel through Northbridge first and then only it will reach Southbridge. Mainly connected to the ISA or PCI buses, the LAN, Sound and USB drivers are contained inside Southbridge

Chipset manufactures like Intel, AMD, NVidia etc. manufactures chipsets for specific PC, Laptop and Tablet manufactures like Dell, Apple, Toshiba etc. Custom chipsets are often manufactured for other companies as well. In most cases the chipset comes with a warranty as it is integrated with the motherboard of a system.

Importance of Computers in the Indian Education Sector Case Study

Nowadays we can hardly imaginewhat a world without computers and processors would be, computers most definitely are the best thing by far human race has invented. From your home to railway stations to work place to grocery shops, computers take different forms and shape yet do things that are complex and difficult. In India still the no: of computer illiterates are pretty high. Computer literacy is as important as language literacy nowadays as a computer illiterate would have no scope in this modern tech savvy world.

It is a matter of major concern that many schools in our country especially in rural areasstill don’t include computers in their school syllabus. Internet has made life easier for many people especially in the educational sector, now we can learn whatever we want from the net on a button click. All modern schools these days have new technologies like e-learning, virtual class rooms etc. through which students can study and learn lot of things, they could also interact with students all over the world through this.A lot of governments in India have tied up with computer giants like Microsoft, Linux etc. to provide computer knowledge to all students across all age groups.

Types of computer education:

  • Computer assisted Learning
  • Computer assisted Management
  • Computer assisted instruction

The main key here is to educate these students with all latest technologies and information at par with the other parts of the world.  A specific plan must be laid out for educating the students with these technologies. The level should be increased as per the class which means when the students are out of school they will be well equipped with all modern computer techniques.

Computer Security Threats Seminar Report

computer security threats and vulnerabilities

The biggest concern for all of us while browsing on internet is the millions of bugs waiting to infiltrate our computer. A bug can be in form of a malware, spyware, virus etc. which affects not only the performance of the system but also can download data from internet automatically or can even erase our hard disk data. Strong laws are being brought in place to control and punish such infiltrators called hackers. We must be careful every time we use net banking or online payment as it is most vulnerable for hacking, if our account is hacked we will lose all the money in our account. There are many threats in the world of computers now which not only effect on a personal basis but also bring huge financial and information losses to big organizations and even government agencies.

Security threats home personal computer

Virus is the first name that comes to our name if we hear computer threat, that is because it is the most common form of bug in a computer. A virus is a program that duplicates itself while copying from system to system or within a system, viruses can lead to loss and manipulation of data in a computer. The viruses can affect hard disks, webs servers, boot sector, local networks, files etc. and there are also further classification of viruses like inserting ones, prep-ending, appending etc.

Other types of threats include Trojan horses, in which malicious files are hidden in some entertainment files, Macro Viruses which can be written in MS Office applications, Worms which spread rapidly effecting wholesome performance of the system, Zombie which would be controlled from a remote system. In the internet sites there would be numerous web sites which are malicious. Trojan ads and other adware, spyware, phishing etc. are forms of internet attacks. Bonk, RDS Shell etc. are types of networking threats.

Abstract Cell Complexes (ACC) Seminar Report

Mathematics has always fascinated us in many ways, new theories and proposals come up each other day which changes the precious theories. In an open family of intersection where there are open sets and the removal of finite restriction is majorly called the Alexandrov topology, the Abstract Cell Complexes or ACC works on this principle. In this a positive or integer of non-negative value is allocated to a point each, such integers are called dimensions. ACC is mainly proposed for 3-D and larger dimension spaces, analysis of images etc. The main disadvantage of a Euclidian geometry is its failure to analyze images of different dimensions and resolutions. In this the dimension is defined per points in a finite space satisfying new axioms depending on the relations of the neighborhood space. The basic relation of the ACC as defined by mathematician E-Steinitz is C= (E, B, dim). E denotes abstract cells, B refers to the relation that is bounding and dim points out the positive integer.

Advantages of ACC

  • Independent of other geometrical theories such as Euclidean
  • Solves lot of image analysis problems
  • Used in the field of computer animations and graphics
  • Proposes new algorithms for image analysis
  • Boundaries could be traced in 2D, 3D or higher dimensions using various algorithms
  • Encoding of images in pixel cells
  • The code of the boundary is used for rebuilding subsets

A surface of a polyhedron which is finite is a classic example of a finite topological surface. The edges and the vertices of the polyhedron is also a part of topology. Pixels and Voxels are categorized based on the image analysis. The basic rule of ACC is the co-ordinate assignment rule; in this finally the image elements are assigned with positive integers in it. For that each pixel is identified and market correctly during this process.

Concurrency control in DBMS Documentation

Technical Seminar Topic on Concurrency control in distributed systems

A transaction in a database structure is defined as a unit of work executed inside the database system for the mutual benefits of the two or more parties involved in it. In our day to day life itself lots of transactions are happening in front of us. Many of us purchase movie tickets or travel tickets online where plenty of simultaneous users will be accessing the same website from all corners of the world. The use of concurrency control arises when same set of users are accessing one pin point in that site and there is a chance of conflict in the database processing, for that the programs accessing the database must be isolated concurrently. This concept is purely a database management system one and ensures that there is no overlap during the processing of the query.

Concurrency control Techniques in DBMS’s ACID rule forms the basis of concurrency control:

  • Atomicity
  • Consistency
  • Isolation
  • Durability

A transaction life first begins and then executes data, commit if zero errors and rollback if there are errors, for this process to happen there are business objects, transaction manager to start the transaction which with the help of a business service populates or search the database. If the concurrency control in transaction does not happen there is a huge chance that data would become corrupt and will affect the functioning of the whole system. Some type of problems arising in concurrency control include lost update problem, dirty read problem, incorrect summary problem etc. while the concurrency mechanisms are optimistic, pessimistic and semi-optimistic. The various concurrency control methods are locking, serialization, timestamp ordering, commitment ordering etc.

Advantages of concurrency control

  • Less chance of errors
  • Less chance of site hanging or blockage
  • Data handling is much smoother and clearer
  • Blocks unwanted operations

Video Segmentation Seminar Report and PPT

This article provides a brief description on existing technique for Video segmentation on both compressed and uncompressed videos, this article also discuss about the algorithms for shot boundaries detection, and topics related to camera operation recognition. The resent researches in multimedia compression technology have led to the growth of internet, and use of digital video. Application such as digital libraries, video-on-demand, interactive TV, uses a large collection of video data.  The main goal to sub divide video stream into a set of meaningful shots (segments) which can be used as basic element in indexing of video stream, where each shorts is represented by selecting key frames and indexed the retrieval is based on the feature vector of the query and stored video. A shot can be defined as a unbroken sequence of frames, There are mainly two types of shot transitions abrupt and gradual. Although there are many technique for combining two shots, most often fades and dissolves are been used. Camera operationrecognitionis one of the other basic important issues. As camera operationsusually explicitly reflect on how the attention of the viewer should be directed, the clues obtained are useful for key frame selection.

Temporal video segmentation: Most of the algorithms process uncompressed videos, similar measure can be done in case of images such as on comparing two images if they are dissimilar then there will be a cut, based on the metrics used difference between two  frames  the algorithms can be divided into: Pixel, block and histogram comparison. This research has also confirms the need for benchmark video sequences and unified evaluation criteria that will  allow comparison  and precise evaluation of  the  various  techniques.  The benchmark  sequences should contain enough data  for all the  possible  types  of  camera operations  and  shot transitions,  including  complex  gradual transition

Seminar Topic on BACnet and Lon Works

BACnet™ (Building Automation and Controls Network). This paper is meant to explore the substantial differences between each approach, and also focus on various popular myths in order to dispel some of the confusion and misinformation that has surfaced as these different solutions which have been introduced to the marketplace. This paper also discuss about how to create an automation and controls system which are designed tointeroperate with other BACnet systems.Interoperate in a BACnetmeans that two or more BACnet-speaking computer systems shares the same communications networks, and ask each other systems to perform various functions on a peer-to-peer basis.

Although this system does not require similarcapabilities, it is simplerfor system designers to design system components at every level of complexity, to have access to all functions of other automation system peers. Hear there are no class distinction between smaller controller, lager controller, actuator, sensors and host computer or operator work stations. The BACnet provides a sophisticated model for describing automation systems for all types. These models are based on the idea that the systems to be truly interoperable, there should be some agreement about various aspects of the overall operation and the individual systems by themselves. BACnet models are been divided into : Objects, services, LANs, internetworking, conformance. This paper discussesabout these classifications of models in detail.

Lonwork is the next topic which has been discussed in this paper. At the basic core of this technology is owned by a single proprietor communications protocol called LonTalk, which is a simple mailing system with some basic mechanisms for transferring messages between two or more systems. One of the major problems of the lonworks is that they are no able to extent since it needs an gold level agreement from its official members.
