Data Warehousing and Mining Techniques Final Seminar Report

Description: We live in the world of information explosion. There is information and data flooding out from nooks and corners of this world. There is information flowing from almost every domain from education management to space research. Businesses are growing and businesses are diversifying. There is a spirit of competition in the area. There is zeal to perform better and show results better than any other. Information helps, it helps gain a competitive edge. Managing information and data have become important like never before.

In an age in which data has to saved, secured, archived, and retrieved the functions or data mining and warehousing become indispensable. If data mining helps archiving data, data warehousing helps in putting the data in understandable formats and arranging it in such a way that it helps analyzing, predicting, forecasting and above all decision making in no time.

The biggest loophole in this era of information explosion is that there is enough information, information is churned out almost in an astronomical pace, but at the same time processing this information into understandable chunks is grievously late. This delays the decision making process which is in fact, if not an exaggeration, a life-force to businesses. Data mining and warehousing precisely aim to make businesses adept at decision making.

Conclusion:

The Technology Data Warehousing and Mining Techniques Final Seminar Report Review magazine posits that data mining is one of the top 10 emerging technologies that have the potential to change the world. Data Warehousing has an inherent potential to discover new information or information that was otherwise unnoticed. Data mining thus is a kind of discovery that unravels hidden patterns without any hypothesis. Enterprises are relying heavily on data mining. Data mining is now gaining a whole new prominence until a few years ago it was considered as an addendum to warehousing. Data mining now is an indispensable business tool in its own right.

Data Warehousing and Data Mining Final Year Seminar Topic

Description: The research paper Data Warehousing and Data Mining Final Year Seminar Topic talks about information explosion- the rate at which data is churned out and effective ways of securing the data. If data mining secures the data, data warehousing manages the data into accessible formats and makes it available in a prudent format that allows decision making in a quick and easy way.

The research paper talks about predictive data mining as the most efficient and productive types. The paper also talks about the three major responsibilities undertaken by the data mining process they are:

  1. Exploration
  2. Model building and pattern formation going hand in hand with validation/verification
  3. Deployment ( prediction ensues this stage)

The research paper talks about the crucial aspects of data mining. They are

  1. Bagging
  2. Data reduction
  3. Data preparation
  4. Deployment

Models of data mining have been suggested in the research paper. They are:

  1. CRISP
  2. Six Sigma
  3. Predictive data mining

Data warehousing is a process in which data is arranged in prudent formats that allows sensible decision making in no time. Data warehousing aims at making the decision making process ‘On-line’. The most effective data warehousing architecture will be incorporating or at least referencing all data available in the relevant enterprise-wide information management systems, using designated technology suitable for corporate data base management (e.g., Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server.

Conclusion: The research paper concludes on a note that although data mining and data warehousing techniques have revolutionized data management systems, there are many loopholes that cannot go unmentioned. There are many inherent and external threats that render the flow of data and securing it vulnerable. There are many effective techniques and applications that have been mentioned in the research paper already. Nevertheless both data mining and data warehousing have miles to go. The applications have to be considered solely from performance perspective.

Data Warehousing And Data Mining CSIT Seminar Topic

Description: The research paper Data Warehousing And Data Mining CSIT Seminar Topic comments about the age of information explosion we are currently in. It talks about the importance of securing and protecting a huge data base. It talks about various aspects pertaining to effective security measures of data base. It talks about the recent trends and future scope.

It has been observed that although the rate at which data is churned out is huge the rate at which it is processed and made applicable through analytical thinking and prudent decision making skills is pretty low. Now this could call for an alarming situation where in we see a data overflow not knowing what to do with it.

In a situation like this both data warehousing and data mining techniques and applications provide quick relief.

It is suggested in the research paper that data warehousing formats data in such a way that it is easily accessible, but at the same time if the format is not in a way as to facilitate the decision making process, the whole idea of data warehousing goes for a toss. The paper talks about managing information effectively so that decision making becomes an ‘on-line’ process. Such a thing will catapult businesses to a whole new world. Businesses thus would have a competitive edge like never before.

The paper suggests an evolution of extraction of data to processing it and utilizing it in the decision making process.

As the name itself suggests data warehouse stores a huge data. It compiles data at a point from various incompatible sources. This information is them processed into meaningful information for business analyses, comparison of data and scientific/business forecasts.

Conclusion:

Data warehousing along with data mining will give the organization viable customer care solutions. The processes offer transparency and this certainly enhances the customer loyalty factor. The techniques have gained widespread recognition and have a long way to go

A Geometric Approach to Improving Active Packet Loss Measurement a Java Project

A Geometric Approach to Improving Active Packet Loss Measurement a Java Project is for computer science and information technology final year students who are interested in developing packet related final year project. Active-Packet-Loss-Measurement-a-Java-Project

Description:

In geometric approach measuring and analyzing network traffic dynamics between end hosts has provided the foundation for the development of many different network protocols and systems. Despite of efforts on network engineers and operators to limit loss, it will probably never be eliminated due to the intrinsic dynamics and scaling properties of traffic in packet switched network.

Network operators have the ability to passively monitor nodes within their network for packet loss on routers using SNMP. In an Existing System, they analyze the usefulness of Poisson Arrivals; see time averages in the networking context. Several studies include the use of loss measurements to estimate network properties such as bottleneck buffer size and cross traffic intensity, which is not accurate. Network tomography based on using both multi cast and unicast probes has also been demonstrated to be in-effective for inferring loss rates on internal links on end-to-end paths.

Objective:

The purpose of this project is to understand how to measure end-to-end packet loss characteristics accurately with probes and in a way that enables us to specify the impact on the bottleneck queue. This project is to understand how to accurately measure loss characteristics on end-to-end paths with probes. In every application we have our own merits and demerits.

What is being covered?

The project has covered almost all the requirements. Further requirements and improvements can easily be done since the coding is mainly structured or modular in nature. Changing the existing modules or adding new modules can append improvements. Further enhancements can be made to the application, so that the web site functions very attractive and useful manner than the present one. Thus, our project implements a tool named BADABING. Specifically, our method entails probe experiments that follow a geometric distribution to enable more accurate measurements than standard Poisson probing and other traditional packet loss measurement tools.

Data Security Data Transmission Over Networks

Description: The research paper DATA SECURITY  Data Transmission Over Networks speaks about how securely data could be transmitted over a network. It raises some significant threats to data transmission while passing through untrusted medium. It also casts light on the recent developments and best techniques to encrypt a data in order to secure it. It also talks about the possible challenges and threats. The research paper casts light on the efficiency of ‘cryptography’ and the scope of the domain in future.

The research paper also talks about ‘Steganography’ which is gaining popularity as a very effective method of securing the data. In this application the end use identifies a picture that will act as carrier of data. The data file is compressed and sent along with the image. The data is embedded into the image. It could be one means of securing the data sent. This way steganography is not very different from cryptography. Steganography comes up with many interesting ways of hiding the information and securing it from the third party.

The research paper talks about cryptographic algorithms that have been in vogue lately. The Switch key algorithm uses just one key to encrypt and decrypt. The Public key algorithm uses two keys and the Hash mode uses mathematical expression to encrypt the data irreversibly.

Both cryptography and steganography are useful for data security. Both can work excellently when performed together. Steganography works perfectly within the following formats. .bmp, .doc, .gif, .jpeg etc.

Conclusion:

Both cryptographic and steganographic systems deal with securing the data in an effective way. Both the applications can prove very beneficial to the offices that operate through network systems.

Data Mining and Neural Networks Final Seminar Report

Description: The research process Data Mining and Neural Networks Final Seminar Report explains what data mining is. It also shows connectivity between data mining and neural networks. The last century and the current scenario have been witnessing a colossal increase in the amount of shared information. There has been an information explosion. With giant strides made in almost all the fields from education, IT, business, space research and many more there is a gigantic bulge of information every day. Predictions and scientific forecasts say that the trend is going to double every year and perhaps triple will be the amount of data that needs storing. And perhaps even more than that.

In a situation like this there is a greater need and demand to come up with efficient database management systems. This paper not only comments on the current effective trends of data mining but also future prospects. The research paper talks about the connecting link between data mining and neural networks and explains how effective functioning is achieved.

Clementine User Guide, a data mining toolkit describes data mining thus: ‘”using a variety of techniques to identify nuggets of information or decision-making knowledge in bodies of data, and extracting these in such a way that they can be put to use in the areas such as decision support, prediction, forecasting and estimation. The data is often voluminous, but as it stands of low value as no direct use can be made of it; it is the hidden information in the data that is useful”

What is Neural Networks:

Neural Networks is an application that is analogous to the functioning of brain. A neural network is something like a neuron in the brain and this identifies a pattern in the data base. A neural network thus can identify patterns just as people do. Hence large databases can be effectively managed using neural networks.

Conclusion:

The research abstract suggests the strides made by data mining by employing the applications used by neural networks. NN also increases the efficiency and security levels of a data mining operation.

Secured Authentication for Online Banking Using Mobile Phones Java Project

Description:

Now-a-days security concerns are on the rise in all areas such as banks, governmental applications, health care industry, military organization, educational institutions, etc., Member institutions of Online Banking Association rated Security as the most important issue of online banking. New survey finds that 31% of bank customers avoid online transactions because of security reasons. Secured Authentication for Online Banking using Mobile Phones java project  guarantees authentication to online banking services in a secured manner.Online-Banking-using-Mobile-Phones-java-project

Why so very indispensable?

Clients perform transactions on a secure website operated by their bank. Transactions in online banking differ from general internet shopping transactions. Attacks on online banking deceive the user to steal the login data. A weak password is easy to remember, but open to potential attacks. It is not secured in many cases and therefore risks are high.

While digital certificates are used against phishing and pharming, attacks lead to an increasing number of phishing websites which duplicates victim’s passwords. The less the password security relies on human mediation, the more it is secure. Dynamic Key Token is used for performing the banking operation. Protection through single password authentication, as is the case in most secure Internet shopping sites, is not considered secure enough for personal online banking applications in some countries.

Modern Technological Approach:

A mobile-based software token system that is supposed to replace existing hardware and computer-based software tokens is proposed. The proposed system is secured. For each and every transaction, a dynamic password token is generated which avoids theft, phishing and hacking attacks.

Authentication of Online Banking using Mobile phones has both advantages as well as disadvantages too. Its future developments include, a user friendly GUI. The proposed work to be implemented on various mobile phone platforms. Bluetooth and WLAN features on mobile phones can be used for cheaper token generation. Single factor authentication methods, such as passwords, are no longer considered secure in the internet and banking world.

Conclusion:

The increase in number of carried tokens and cost of manufacturing and maintaining them is difficult for both the client and organization. Mobile devices and certainly mobile phones are currently widely spread. Many clients carry a mobile phone now at all times.

The proposed system has two ways of implementing, either using a free and fast connection-less method or a slightly more expensive SMS based method. At last it has been concluded that both the methods have been successfully implemented and tested, and are shown to be robust and secure.

Data Mining Engineering Seminar Report

Description: The DATA MINING Engineering Seminar Report gives a basic insight into the concept of data-mining. It suggests that there has been a data flood owing to data generated from Banks, telecom industry, scientific labs, astronomical data, population statistics and many many more. The data generated from the e-world is also flood like with enormous data and information being churned out from web, text, e-commerce.

Why data is captured: The presentation suggests that more and more data is captured owing to greater storage and security techniques. These techniques have become cheaper and now there are sophisticated data base management systems which facilitate greater data storage with more accuracy and security.

Some laws have been mentioned in the presentation. According to Moore’s law computer speed doubles in every 18 months. And total storage doubles every nine months.

Data mining has been defined in the presentation as a process that identifies valid, novel, potentially useful, and understandable patterns of data. Search Engines and Telephone directories are not part of data mining. Since competitive pressure is strong data mining is gaining a never like before advantage.Data mining allows collection and storage of data at enormous speed. The information collected is from sources like

  • remote sensors on a satellite
  • telescopes scanning the skies
  • microarrays generating gene
    expression data
  • scientific simulations
    generating terabytes of data

Some Major Tasks of data mining : ( as mentioned in the presentation)

  • Classification: predicting an item class
  • Associations: e.g. A & B & C occur frequently
  • Visualization: to facilitate human discovery
  • Estimation: predicting a continuous value
  • Deviation Detection: finding changes
  • Link Analysis:  finding relationships

Data Mining techniques are used in fraud detection, direct marketing,

Conclusion: The presentation ends by quoting some challenges of data mining are privacy preservation, data quality, dimensionability, data ownership and distribution.

Rainbow Technology A CSE Mini Project Report and Paper Presentation

Description:

Rainbow technology a cse mini project and paper presentation is, a breakthrough in digital data storage enables us to store up to a massive 450GB on just a piece of paper. Rainbow Storage is a group of techniques to store digital data in some colours, colour combinations and some symbols known as rainbow format, and therefore a rainbow picture will be generated. Rainbow-Technology-A-CSE-Mini-project-Report

Why is this useful?

The technique is used to achieve high-density storage. With the help of Rainbow system we would be watching full-length high-definition videos from a piece of paper. The main attraction is the cheap paper. The Rainbow technology is feasible because printed text, readable by the human eye is a very wasteful use of the potential capacity of paper to store data. By printing the data encoded in a denser way much higher capacities can be achieved.

Paper is, of course, bio-degradable, unlike CDs or DVDs. And sheets of paper also cost a fraction of the cost of a CD or DVD. In the Rainbow technology, soon we would be watching full-length high-definition videos from a piece of paper! With the popularity of the Rainbow Technology, computer or fashion magazines in future need not carry CDs in a pack.

One of the major advantages of the Rainbow system is the fact that it should cost a lot less to produce than the typical polycarbonate DVDs, CDs and now Blue- rays. Hence huge data banks can be constructed out of Rainbow-based storage medium.
