Distributed System Applications

The application range supported by these distributed systems or distributed computing is very large and the common applications that fall under this category are Wireless sensor networks, Telecommunication networks, Internet systems, peer to peer networks, routing algorithms, distributed database management systems and network file systems.

Among all these applications, there are many autonomous entities working together to achieve a common objective and the performance of each and every system should be considered to estimate the overall performance of the distributed system.

Distributed System Goals

A distributed system in general has a common goal like to solve a computational and logical problem and each and every autonomous system has an individual user working on a separate entity of the problem. Sharing of the resources is the key factors across any kind of distributed systems and there are different techniques used to share the resources among these autonomous systems and which were discussed in the literature.

Individual computational nodes or computers are monitored across the distributed systems to achieve the desired problem and the monitoring of these nodes includes recording all the possible cases of faults that may rise across the individual autonomous systems.

Distributed system should be designed in a manner such that is should be able to tolerate the faults that cause due to the individual systems that form the group of autonomous system.

Distributed Systems Principles and Paradigms

The usage range of distributed systems has increased widely these days and the main reasons behind this is because of the complex services provided and policies provided by the distributed systems. In general different autonomous systems can be connected at a place to form a distributed architecture across these distributed systems and also provides access to the system resources like local memory and these autonomous systems can communicate with each other using the message passing techniques.

To simply the concept of dynamic distributed system, a wireless sensor network is considered as the default dynamic distributed system and the wireless sensor nodes are considered as the autonomous systems.

Fuzzy Logic Seminar Report

Objective:

The main objective of this “Fuzzy logic” white paper is about the role of Fuzzy logic as a speed control tool for DC motors and also about its implementations.

Introduction:

Fuzzy logic is a powerful problem solving methodology and mathematically it is a superset of Boolean or Crisp logic.  Fuzzy logic has developed based on fuzzy set theory.  In various control parameters like maximum overshoot and settling time for the DC motor control fuzzy logic has its own improvements when compared to PID control strategy.

Fuzzy logic control (FLC) technique has become an effective area in industrial processes applications research.

Design of Fuzzy controller:

Fuzzy logic design includes the following four principal components:

  • Fuzzification interface:  Fuzzification converts the input data namely error, e(t) and change in error, ce(t) into suitable linguistic variables.
  • Knowledge base: Knowledge base consists of database and rule base. Linguistic control rules has been defined by the definitions, which are provided by the Data base. Control surfaces behavior is defined by the rules that tie together the fuzzy variables, these rules are in form of rule base matrix.
  • Decision making logic: This logic infers a system of rules through the fuzzy operators namely ‘AND’ and ‘OR’ and generates a single truth value determined by inferred fuzzy control action).
  •  Defuzzification interface: The center of area method is used as the defuzzification strategy which yields a crispy, non-fuzzy control action from an inferred fuzzy control.

D.C. Motor Using Fuzzy Logic Control Technique In Real Time:

The FLC scheme has 7 quantization levels and 21 rules, which implemented on DC motors. FLC performs well than PID controller.  In FLC, the response settled quickly without any oscillations.

CONCLUSION:

This paper discussed about the FLC control as an effective speed control for DC motors when compared to PID controllers.

Hypertext Pre Processor Lab Manual

PHP stands for hypertext preprocessor, it’s a powerful tool for making dynamic and interactive web pages just like ASP.PHP is an open source, sever side scripting language which is more efficient and widely used. It even supports many databases like oracle, My SQL, Sybase, generic ODBC etc.

A PHP file generally contains text, HTML tags and scripts. These files are returned to the browser as plain HTML and the files have an extension like .php, .phtml, .php3.

PHP is a loosely coupled language; here we need not declare the variables before adding a value to it. It automatically converts the variable to correct data type, depending on its value whereas in a strongly couple language the type of variable and the variable has to be declared before using it. A PHP scripting block always starts with <?php and ends with >?.

Just like C and CPP languages PHP also has operators like arithmetic, assignment, logical. it even contains if, if-else statements, switch cases, comments, arrays, loops, function declarations.

PHP form handling is the most important aspect of PHP. Here the PHP and HTML form is that any form element in an HTML page will automatically be available for PHP scripts. User input should be validated on browser. Here the browser validation is fast and reduces server load.

Internet Cryptography Seminar Report

Introduction to Internet Cryptography Seminar Topic:

Internet is a group of computers that are connected world widely with addresses that are administrated by IANA. Through this internet anyone can connect to various websites. Internet is mostly used to send and receive data, security is an important that most of the users bother about. The traditional internet lacks security. Data sent by users could be modified, stolen, sometimes it may be stopped from reaching the destination or mislead by a third person who has bad intensions.

One of the efficient ways of providing security to the data that travels from one computer to other computer world widely is by making use of cryptography. Cryptography can reformat and transform the data making it safe based on the safety codes and use of mathematics. The crypto techniques mark, transform and reformat the message to protect from disclosure, change. The person may use secret codes to disguise the message contents which is traditional technique or may use modern crypto mechanism the digital signature to protect from forgery. The digital signature clearly and reliably tells the recipient if contents of message were modified after the author has done it.

A cipher system is a method of disguising messages only to certain people. Cryptography is the art of creating and using crypt systems. Cryptanalysis is the art of breaking cryptosystems, the original message is called plain text the disguised message is called cipher text. Encryption is the process of converting plaintext to cipher text and decryption is the reverse of encryption. Decryption is the process of converting cipher text to plain text.

The encryption can keep message content secret but it doesn’t make it to modify. In low risk environment simple encryption might be enough to deter attacks. Crypto techniques assure the following

  1. They reasonably assure that their messages can’t be read by anyone else as no one else can have the crypto key.
  2. The second be assured that the messages received by him are from the first person
  3. Second person relieve on authenticity of messages and integrity of messages since incoming messages are not modified or written by anyone else except by the first person

Container Terminal Management System CTMS Project Report

Introduction to Container Terminal Management System CTMS Project:

The aim of the project is to develop a Container Terminal Management System for a larger container port terminal having one of the biggest container handling facilities in the country. The terminal occupies a strategic partnership with major shipping lines to provide customers in the country and the regions with links to more than 100 ports around the world.

CTMS has two major modules they are

1. Containers module.

2. In-Yard operations module.

Containers module: The containers modules handles the following areas they are

Export Containers: The voyage call has been registered container port through system with reference by shipping agent. The shipping agent will assign the hauler to handle the container to port. The customs clearance will be handled forwarding agent appointed by shipping agent. After clearance the container enters into hauler and is then accepted by port terminal and is stacked in yard location. On arrival of vessel the container will be loaded in the vessel and necessary bill will be generated by the system.

Import Containers: The voyage call has been registered by the container terminal through the system with reference to shipping agent. On the arrival of vessel containers are discharged from vessel and stack is allocated in yard location.

Empty containers: Empty containers are same as import and export containers

Reefer container handling: Refrigerators are stored in the yard as it requires necessary cooling before loading the ship or delivery to the customer.

In-yard operation module: The following activities take place in this module they are

  1. Packing or unpacking
  2. In-yard movement
  3. Yard planning

Packing or unpacking: The forwarding agent may request the port terminal to pack their cargo into the container empty container which is stacked in the yard. The port terminal will pack all the cargo into specified container and convert this into export.

In-yard movement: All the containers inside the yard are handled by private carriers. The necessary data to move the container by the carrier are communicated through wireless system called RDT. The CTMS application will communicate with RDT system to receive and send data based the VMT/HMT requests.

Yard planning: The location for stack import or export containers is planned prior to container arrival. In turn the yard planning is controlled by CTMS.

CSE Seminar Topic on Discrete Event System Abstract

Every event in a system is composed of much number of events. Each event occurring at an instant of time creates a change in the system. These events may happen irregularly or   none deterministically but are result of interactions within the system. The conceptual structure of DES is simple .It is a system that constitutes multiple jobs which require multiple resources. This conceptually simple model encompasses scores of event driven, human made, overwhelmingly complex systems like international airports, offices, large communication networks, multiplexes, shopping malls, industries etc.

Typical examples of events that can trigger the response of a DES and  possible the change of its state are the arrival or departure of a packet in the node of a communication network, the completion of  task, the repair  or failure of a machine in the factory, the opening or closing of a switch in the network etc.

In most of the cases the discrete systems are considered as the computational models, obtained by the sampling of continuous systems. Though a general theory of DES does not exists , the previously mentioned partial approaches have provided valuable concepts and insights and have contributed to the understanding of the fundamental issues involved in the design, analysis and control of DES.

The DES simulation methods, algorithms and software are now commercially available to quantitative behavior analysis and also to the quantitative performance evaluation .The main attention are focused on the modeling of DES, which allows one to grasp the basic behavior of DES’s.
