Induction Motor Speed Control by Pulse Width Modulation Technique

AIM: The main aim of Induction Motor Speed Control by Pulse Width Modulation Technique project is to control the speed of induction motor  and here it is controlled by pulse width modulation technique.

Description: There  are  many conventional  methods  of controlling  the  speed  of  an Induction motor. Among them V/F  control ,voltage control ,current control  are some of the methods. But here we are using PWM technique for controlling the speed of an induction motor.  

Here in this project we are implementing this pwm technique to the microcontroller for operation. Basically it consists of  mainly a micro controller, optocoupler , triac , induction motor ,and increment and decrement switches connected in series with the motor adjusted the amount of current flowing through the motor.

This project use Opto Copulers to transmit electrical signals in the circuit using a short optical transmission path—since the electrical signal is converted to a light beam, transferred, then converted back to an electrical signal, there is no need for electrical connection between the destination and source circuits.

Here as said earlier there are two keys INC and DEC. by pressing these keys the speed can increased or decreased. These speeds can be controlled that is increased or decreased by controlling the firing angles. So by changing  the firing angles the speed is regulated through micro controller which is controlled through optocoupler which is further operated with triac and the whole is fed to the induction motor.Thus we can obtain the control of  the induction motor.

Fan Speed Control by RC5 TV Remote

Aim:The aim of Fan Speed Control By rc5 tv remote project is to control the fan speed using microcontroller with rc5 tv remote.By controlling the Thyristor firing angle control scheme. 

Principle: This is a phase angle control of a Triac. The 50 Hz or 60 Hz Sine wave of mains can be turned on at any point after the Zero Crossing. There are few methods which can control delivered loads one among them are phase control method is the best method. Technique used in this method works same as that of pulse width modulation and digital signal. This type of methods is mostly used in light dimmers. The light’s brightness will be proportional to the area under the curve. 

Hardware Description:

The block diagram of the fan speed control by controlling the thyristor firing angle method is shown in figure. 

TSOP1738 decoder is used to decode command signals received from TV remote ,this is already programmed microcontroller flash memory, sending to the optoisolator ,during the pulse high duration this can triggering the gate of the triac,so current is flowing in to the load, during pulse low duration ,current is not flowing into the load.so,by this method we can control the power delivered to the fan, hence the speed of the fan can be control.

Device Switching By Using the TV Remote System

Aim:The aim of Device Switching by Using The TV Remote System project is to controlling the device switching (i.e. ON or OFF) by using the using micro controller with TV remote.

 Hardware Description:The block diagram of the Device switching by using the TV remote method is shown in figure. As shown in the block diagram ,the main circuit is a combination of two sub circuits.

   1. Zero crossing detector circuit. 

   2. IR sensor(TSOP1738).

 After getting an interrupt 89C52will switch ON/OFF the device based on key pressed on TV remote. 

During power on condition all three devices are in OFF condition.When you press Key ‘1’ on TV remote device 1 switched on. Again when you press key ‘1’ on TV remote.

Device 1 switched off. When you press Key ‘2’ on TV remote device 2 switched on. Again when you press key ‘2’ on TV remote device 2 switched off. When you press.

Key ‘3’ on TV remote device 3 switched on. Again when you press key ‘3’ on TV remote Device 3 switched off. 

The user can press the TV remote, the TSOP1738 decode the command depending on the pressed key the control signal for the pressed key ,already programmed into the microcontroller flash memory, sending to the Buffer IC(Relay driver ULN2003) IC ,depending on the  controlling signal respective device is switched ON/OFF.

Electrical Appliances Control through RFID

AIM:           The main aim of Electrical Appliances Control Through Rfid project is to design an equipment for controlling electrical appliances by using radio frequency(RF) communication.

DESCRIPTION:               In this we are using RF communication device. In RF receiver we use a decoder and in RF transmitter we use encoder. this device uses 433 MHZ. With this encoder and decoder will be transmitting and receiving  the information.The appliance is controlled by encoding and decoding .when a key is pressed on the transmitter side of  RF,  receiver will receive the information and it is sent to the micro controller. This is displayed on the LCD. Then the relay is operated and device will be switched ON or OFF according to the signal. Hence the appliances is controlled.

Automatic Humidity Monitoring and Pumping System for Farmers

AIM:            The main aim of Automatic Humidity Monitoring And Pumping System For Farmers project is to monitor and record the values of humidity of natural environment and to pump the plants water at required humidity level in order to achieve maximum plant growth and yield.This projects main intention is to develop a application where it can collect data about soil conditions with a low cost equipment and less labour involved.

DESCRIPTION:   In this project embedded micro controller is used with a c program written inside it using a Keil IDE software, using this system it will be easy to record and monitor important parameters like humidity, temperature of the natural environment that is continuously modified and controlled in order optimize it to achieve maximum plant growth and yield. The controller used is a low power, cost efficient chip manufactured by ATMEL having 4K bytes of on-chip flash memory. It communicates with the humidity sensor module in real-time in order to control the humidity process.

There is one water level sensor is present to indicate the level of water in the well. Also, the use of easily available components reduces the manufacturing and maintenance costs.

Digital Energy Meter with Auto Limiting Of Load System

AIM:            The main aim of Digital Energy Meter With Auto Limiting Of Load System project is to implement the digital ENERGY METER with overload protection capability by continuously measuring the voltage and current values.  The purpose of the project is to provide an automation system for the automatic load limiting of digital energy meter with reference to the current and voltage values.

Initially we will work on the implementation of a regular watt hour reading meter using micro controller. In this discussion we will cover how ADC can be used for measuring both voltage and load current accurately without errors. Micro controller used in this project will measure parameters like rms voltage and current, kWh which will be displayed on LCD.All metered data is securely stored as it is updated in a nonvolatile memory (EEPROM). The design discussed here uses two Current Transformers (CTs) for current sensing.. The second part of this project is to implement auto limiting of load. That means when over load is occurred we have to trip the incoming supply. For that purpose we are going to place a relay circuit and when over current is occurred microcontroller will detect that and controller will activate the buzzer.

Intensity Control of Room System

AIM:      The main aim of Intensity Control Of Room System project is to design an equipment which controls the intensity of a room.

DESCRIPTION:                       The block diagram mainly consists of microcontroller, triac, and keys. The main concept behind this intensity control is gate width. The device is controlled based on the gate width. By pressing the keys the intensity control is obtained. When a key is pressed it gives signal to the microcontroller and the micro controller gives gate pulses to the triac. These gate width is obtained in the triac by triggering it at a certain firing angle. So when the HIGH key is pressed the triac is triggered at less firing angle and the gate width of the pulses is more hence the intensity of the device is increased. In the same way when the LOW key is pressed the triac is triggered at more firing angle and gate width of the pulses is decreased and hence the intensity of the device is decreased. Hence just by pressing HIGH and LOW keys the intensity of the bulb is controlled by using triac and microcontroller.

Micro Controller Based Device Control System

AIM: The main aim of Micro Controller Based Device Control System project is to design equipment which controls various devices such as home appliances and this is done with the help of micro controller. 

DESCRIPTION: In this project the main concept behind the device control is that it is password based device control. The main components of this project are micro controller, keypad, and relay driver.

When a password is entered in the keypad, based up on the key stroke micro controller detects the key and it is displayed on the LCD. The key pad here is connected in 4×3 matrix format.

The micro controller waits until the correct password is entered .The passwords are already stored in the registers of the microcontrollers for different devices respectively.

So when the password is matched the micro controller sends signal to the driver and relay is operated and hence the control of the device is obtained.

Optimal Voltage Change Indicator for Mobile through Solar System

AIM:      The main aim of  Optimal Voltage Change Indicator For Mobile Through Solar System project is to design an equipment which is used for charging a mobile phone by using solar panel. 

DESCRIPTION:                  The main objective of this project is to charge a mobile by using solar panel. The block diagram mainly consists of a micro controller, analog to digital converter, a solar panel and  relay. So when voltage is obtained from the solar panel, it is given to the ADC. Here the solar panel keeps continuously generating voltage but to charge a mobile we need maximum voltage . maximum voltage is obtained only at maximum intensity. So when ever voltage is generated it is given to the ADC and  it is further sent to the micro controller. When voltage other than  maximum voltage is obtained the relay is operated and it gets tripped and when maximum voltage is obtained the mobile gets charged. Hence by using solar panel we can easily charge a mobile.

Designing Equipment for Substation Monitoring and Controlling

AIM:        The main aim of Designing Equipment For Substation Monitoring And Controlling project is to design equipment for monitoring and controlling a substation. The purpose of this project is to overcome the draw backs of over voltages, over currents, temperatures.

DESCRIPTION:                      In this project mainly we are using a micro controller, and an ADC. Here ADC is used for monitoring voltage, temperature and current. According to the set values which are fixed in micro controller, the voltage levels, current levels and temperature levels are monitored and these are controlled through microcontroller in such a way that if voltage is increased or decreased then the relay is operated that is  transformer is tripped. In the same way when temperature is increased the blower will on and when temperature is decreased the cooler is on. And all these values will be fed to the pc through serial port network.even this can be controlled manually through PC. Hence the substation is monitored and controlled.
