Voice XML CSE Seminar For Students

Voice XML CSE Seminar For Students is a language for creating voice-user interfaces especially for the telephone. It uses speech recognition and touchtone (DTMF keypad) for input and pre-recorded audio and text-to-speech synthesis (TTS) as the output. It is based on the Worldwide Web Consortium’s (W3C’s) Extensible Markup Language (XML). It leverages the web paradigm for application deployment and development.

With VoiceXML, application development of speech recognition is simplified with the help of familiar web infrastructure including Web servers and tools. In spite of using PC Web browser, any telephone can access VoiceXML applications via a VoiceXML “interpreter”, also known as a browser which is running on a telephony server. HTML is used for creating graphical Web applications and VoiceXML is used for voice-enabled Web applications.

There are two concepts regarding the use of VoiceXML. They are as a way to voice-enable a Web site and as an open-architecture solution for building next-generation interactive voice response telephone services. One application is the voice portal which is a telephone service with which callers dial a phone number to retrieve information like stock quotes, sports scores, and weather reports. Other application includes voice-enabled intranets and contact centers, notification services, and innovative telephony services, which are built with VoiceXML.

VoiceXML’s important goal is to have the full power of web development and content delivery to voice response applications and to make the authors free of such applications from low-level programming and resource management.

Conclusion:

VoiceXML is a markup language that minimizes client/server interactions, shields application authors, separates user interaction code (in VoiceXML) from service logic (CGI scripts), and promotes service portability across implementation platforms. VoiceXML is designed for creating audio dialogs to synthesize speech, digitized audio, recognition of spoken and DTMF key input, recording of spoken input, telephony, and mixed-initiative conversations. VoiceXML development application is simplified with web infrastructure, tools and Web servers.
