Project Title: Search and rescue robotic behaviour
The goal of this research is to build and program a robot that uses a neural network and associated sensors to optimally navigate its way towards a target. The goal of the project is to optimise the navigational ability of the robot, which will use an embedded microcontroller and a range of sensors to function. It will also send back pictures to a remote computer via a radio network link.
The behaviour of the robot will based around an AI engine and will learn obstacle avoidance through repeated teaching. Novel ways to train the robot can be investigated, such as the use of genetic algorithms. Object recognition can also be employed, where the robot automatically recognises certain key objects and locates them using image processing techniques.
