GPS-GSM Integration for Enhancing Public Transportation Management Services Project Abstract

In this document a solution is implemented for increasing the public transportation management services that are based on the GSM and GPS in the province of Punjab in the country of Pakistan. This system includes of four modules: In-bus module, bus station module, base station module and bus stop module. Equipped with the GSM and PC the module of the bus station module send the information containing the license plate number and the bus number to the base station and the in-bus module using SMS.

The micro controller is based on the in-bus module and it mainly include a receiver based on the GPS system and modem. It then transferred the number of passengers and location to the module of the base station. The module of the base station is equipped with a unit of micro controller and modem of GSM that is interfaced with the interface of the PC to keep the records of al the buses. A bus location request can be processed by the user and it also helps in updating the bus locations.

At every stop the bus stop module is installed ad it includes a dot matrix, memory unit device and GSM modem. All of these are interfaced to a micro controller. This will help to know the bus that is coming towards the stop and it will consist of all the information about that bus. The display will show on the dot matrix display.

A statistical analysis is sent to the transportation of the Punjab government department to check the service and performance that is offered by the transporters. According to the result it is stated that the system that is developed is useful for people using public transportation service. This system is very useful and it will also help to know people in advance about the next coming bus at the stop.

Introduction to Friendly Home Automation System Using Cell Phone Project:

This document introduces a system that is used to control the appliances that are used at home remotely by the use of cell phones. This system is known as the home automation system. the system designed covers the required factors in the system of home automation like security  flexibility, easy to use,  the ability to get feedback information immediately to the client etc. the system that is presented uses the language J2ME in order to program the mobile of the client that sends details to the service mobile which controls the operation of the appliances via the micro controller PIC that is connected to it.

It is programmed in a bit different manner that introduce the characteristics of the system. static power switch and optocoupler are used as the interface between the home appliances and the PIC. The HAS has been implemented and it began with the robotic concept which is the combination of robot technology and computer application.

It means in other words that the home appliances with the help of computer  Then this concept is further developed to a modern technology, talking about the technological interaction and applied services with the purpose of enhancing the level of comfort, energy saving communication and security.

The HAS that is presented in this paper is practically relished ad it is tested for operations of multi modes. It provides excellent control pf the appliances that are used at home under test. The system that is presented here introduced a more friendly way to control the appliances remotely by the cell phone use. The system that is proposed is dotted by its features that is required by the home automation system like security, friendly, flexibility in excess to the feedback existence on line message to bring the notice of the master about the system state and appliances.

 

Develop a Multiple Interface Based Fire Fighting ECE Robotics Project

Introduction to Develop a Multiple Interface Based Fire Fighting Robotics Project:

A monitoring system that is based on the real time is presented in a multiple interface that is usually used in the automation of home. The home and building security system includes security modular, appliance controller module, fire fighting robot, television security device, GSM modem, remote supervise computer and appliance control module.

Industry personal computer is the main controller of the fire fighting robot. In order to control the mobile robot we order the command that acquire sensor data and programmed the supervised remote system with the visual basic. Security information can be received by the robot from the interface of the wireless RS232 and a generate user interface is designed for the computer control of the fire fighting robot.

In the results of the experiments the users will control the mobile robot with the help of the RF controller, remotely supervise computer and supervised control. Obstacle can be avoided by the robot using IR sensors as well as ultrasonic sensors as per the fusion method of the multi-sense. Two flame sensors can be used to know the source of the fire and fight it with the help of the extinguisher. We are also planning to design an obstacle detector in the future modular using the IR sensor and ultrasonic sensor along with the fusion of the algorithm.

For getting more quick and easy environment map in the outdoor and indoor we need to combine the laser finder . Usually a home provides safety of the security of factory, office building and laboratory is necessary to the life of human and we have also created a multi-sensor security based system that includes a robot for fire fighting in the intelligent building we design a fire fighting robot that comes with an extinguishers. 50cm, 80kg and 130 cm are the respective shapes.

Text Segmentation for MRC Document Compression ECE Matlab Project

For the document compression a particular framework known as the mixed raster content or MRC in short. This can improve the quality trade off in comparison to the lossy algorithm that are traditionally used for compression. The separation of the document into the background and foreground is made possible only with the help of the MRC compression. This represents the binary mask. The ratio of compression and the resulting quality of the encoder document based on MMRC is dependent upon the algorithm that is used for the computation of the binary mask.

In order to enhance the accuracy of the text,  multi scale framework is used with various sizes. Computers, printers, copiers, scanners are some of the networked equipment’s that are used widely and with time it has become more necessary to efficiently store, transfer and compress large files and documents.

As per the previous works the texts, images etc. were not compressed or stored as it lead to loss of data. It can even scan a colored document at 300 dpi which approximately need 24 Mbytes of storage capacity without any need for compression. The tools that are used frequently for compression of natural images are JPEG2000 and JPEG. For raster documents that are formed of scanned compound are not really every effective and typically it consist of graphics texts and images. This is only due to the DCT that is fixed or transformation of wavelet for all typical contents thus resulting in ringing distortion near line –art and edges.

Some of the disadvantages are :

The text detection accuracy is quite low

The compressed data will be lost along with the storage details while transmitting the information’s.

Document files of large sizes cannot be transferred

Introduction to Wireless Equipment Control Using AT89C51 ECE Main Project:

This paper had addressed a revolutionary concept In controlling the devices virtually due to rapid advancement in wireless communications and embedded system technology had paved path for new inventions in monitoring and controlling of equipments efficiently, these embedded systems are the special purpose computer systems designed for multiple computing in real time applications, these are the auxiliary computing systems embedded in the electronic circuits. In this paper we implemented a wireless   controlling device using an 8-bit AT89C51 microcontroller for controlling the other circuitry components, and it can regulates the power supply at an regular intervals of time, the hardware of this system consists of two sections on e the transmitter section and the other is receiver section and the low power high performance 8-bit AT89C51 microcontroller is responsible for the controlling operations.

The receiver circuit receives the signals from the transmitter circuit around a distance of 9 meters, this circuit works under controlled 5v dc supply so in order to supply this 5v dc we need to rectify the step downed 12v ac from ac mains and then feed to the voltage regulator to obtain rectified 5v dc output. And coming to software design the compiler used in project is KEIL C51 it is an embedded C converts high level programming language to machine level language.

This system is far better in controlling equipments it had many advantages than the ordinary conventional control systems like highly reliable in home appliances control, efficient in instrumentation and industrial automation, multiple device control and remote monitoring, low cost with high performance rate, and it is an ideal choice for minimum power consumption control devices.

By extending the range of antenna we can increase the controlling range up to 30 meters, and by using a sophisticated relays we increase the number of devices and multiple computing can be achieved.

Introduction to ECE Mini Project on Voice Guider for Aged People and Patients:

Due increased population and number of patients the concerned authorities had no time to look after each and every individual so we presented a new user friendly system which guides the aged people and patients effectively.

Due to rapid advancement in embedded system technology paved path for the invention of these new technologies, this embedded system components are integrated into a small chip and this chip acts as an mini computing system called as micro controller, these micro controller are multi functioned devices performs tasks faster at a continuous rate and these small computers are low power consumption devices used for embedded applications.

This proposed system consists of a micro controller system; manipulators i.e. voice transmitters and receivers and software to perform the specified task, an low-power, high-performance CMOS 8-bit microcontroller (AT89C52) is used to control the adjacent devices. In this the user has to give the voice signals and the accurate guidance is provided by the device using voice alert and IR technology.

In this system we used a crystal oscillator to produce pulses based on the instructions given by the user, this system can also be used as health monitoring system and it can operate continuously under varying conditions. This entire circuit is operated at 5v dc supply so we need to step down the 230v ac in to 18v dc and then rectified into 5v dc using an full bridge rectified an this controlled output is feed as input to the circuit.

The design and components descriptions and the software programming were clearly explained bellow. The experimental results revealed that this system is highly advantageous in presenting information for the old aged people and especially patients it has storage option and the user can erase the previous stored data also. In future we extend these system capabilities by using remote sensor techniques.

Introduction to PWM FED Speed Control of Induction Motor ECE Project:

The induction motor has finding enormous applications in industries in these days, due to its advantages the utilization of induction motors are increasing day by day, so in order to attain proper functionalities we need to regulate the speed of this induction motor, the speed of the induction motor is controlled by resistance control on rotor or stator side, stator voltage control, or by pole changing method but these conventional method  are not so effective in controlling the speed of the induction drive so in order to full fill the requirements like low noise, high accuracy, less ware and tear with less operational speed we implemented an new concept in this paper i.e.

“   PWM fed speed control of induction motor controlled by  the computer”. Here in this project we generate numerous pulses in every half cycle such that the width of the pulse is less at the end and beginning of the half cycle and maximum at the center, and this width of the pulse varied by the amplitude of the reference sine wave, such that the amplitude of the carrier wave is less than the reference sine wave and these two signals are mixed in the comparator, the output signal frequency is controlled by the modulation index.

The proposed system consists of power supply circuit, Microcontroller, opt-isolator used as a driver circuit, MAX232 integrated circuit, TRIAC and an LCD to display for the output. The power supply consists of a step down transformer to obtain 12v ac from 230v ac and an full bridge rectifier to gain 5v dc for the circuit operation, we use an PIC (16F877A) micro controller to control the operations of this device, asynchronous receiver/transmitter is used to transmit the data between parallel and serial lines.

The entire set up and working phenomenon is explained neatly along with the experimental results.

This paper presents a new concept in the field of power generation; the main objective of this paper is to provide a low budget electricity production, with simple methodologies. In order to meet the enormous demand of electrical energy we have to find alternate sources to full fill the need of supply. Regarding this our project “generating electrical energy from speed breakers” gives a better solution.

In this process we generate electrical energy based on the vehicle weight, and this input object weight is taken as potential energy, this system has mechanism in converting mechanical force into electrical energy. There is an continuous loss of energy in the for heat and friction when an vehicle passes over the speed breaker so in order to utilize the wasting energy we need to implement our project for the conservation of these wasting energies, This paper explains clearly the working mechanism, the design, and practical implementation.  Here to generate electricity we take the potential energy as an input from the passing vehicles and it is used as a prime mover to excite the generator set to produce the electrical energy and this generated energy is stored in the batteries and used for the various applications.

The main procedure includes three kinds of mechanisms Crank-shaft mechanism, Roller mechanism, Rack- Pinion mechanism. Each mechanism had its own advantages and disadvantages but Rack- Pinion mechanism find to more beneficial than the other two by providing greater efficiency, with less gear loss. The materials, tools assembly with their applications and advantages are clearly explained below.

The experimental verification of this sampled kit had revealed that this system is a low cost device with less maintenance, and highly efficient in densely populated areas with high efficiency in production. If we able to design the speed bumps for heavier vehicles which can produce high torques we can extend the range of electricity production.

Introduction to RFID Based Library Management System Project:

The new method for data collection and auto identification is called radio frequency identification of RFID that enable to automate the process of business. It also helps in large number identifications of objects that are tagged using the radio waves. The UHF RFID readers are the base of this proposed system and it is further supported with antennas and section for transactions. RFID transponders that are used in library cards can easily able to store electronically informations that can be written and read without any kind of help or contact from the radio medium. Here, we will discuss about the experiments that are conducted for RFID that are based on LMS.

The use of RFID in the library section enhances the borrowing speed of books followed by monitoring speed enhancement and speedy increase in the process of book searching. It makes the library staffs free to follow the user service jobs. The performance of this system varies and it depends on the RFID tags and readers. This technology can only be used perfectly if used in the right direction and it completely depends on the kind of information that is to be written on the tag.

The results of the experiments along with the position of the card reader’s, tag positions are represented in this paper. Work is going on to set up the same in the library of CDAC and development in this technology is going on a state will enable to give a capacity of huge memories, reading ranges and processing speed. It will also make work easier and effective for the librarians. This is an ideal project that can access the work of the library.

This paper presents a new concept “remote controlled multipurpose robotic vehicle”, in the field of industrial robotics these robots had found applications in product inspection and security where high endurance with speed and precision is required. This robotics is most emerging technology I recent days and a rapid advancement of this technology had invented many kinds of robots like humanoids, moving robots based on robot arm, car robots, monitoring robots.

This electromagnetic device operates under three categories, they are manual, semi automatic, fully automatic. Here we make use of dc rives or stepper motors for the mechanical movements of the robots, in manual operation the commands are given by the user are directly given to the robot, in semi automatic operations sum actions are performed without taking commands from the user, and in fully automatic condition i.e. an virtual based mechanism the operations are performed automatically in an predefined manner. 

In our project we dealt with automatic control, multipurpose, reprogrammable a virtual robot used for automation applications, here an re programmable multipurpose manipulator is designed to perform the mechanical movements of the robot,

The major components of this project are RF Transmitter used for short range remote controls, valve-regulated lead-acid battery for the supply of high specific power density, RF Receiver  to  receive the commands from the micro controller , micro Controller used to control the mechanical directions for the robot and guides it, low power electromagnetic Relay is used to provide switch control operations, Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) or Aluminum Composite Material (ACM)  coated with Polyester paint are used for external cladding and insulation purposes, Coil Springs/helical spring are used for the storage of kinetic energy for subsequent use, DC Motors or steeper motor as the drivers for the robot placed at their wheels, wireless Camera with LED indicator lamp. The construction and its working with its implementation and results are clearly explained in the coming sections. These systems find applications in security, defense as bomb squad, and navigational systems.
