Description:

The trend today is to use a card instead of cash. Each time you walk past a a store or each time you peep into the wallet of a working class employee, executive or big shot entrepreneur all you tend to see are plastic cards which have great value! 

Nowadays the usage of credit cards has dramatically increased and has become the most popular mode of payment for both online as well as regular purchases. However, it is very easy to manipulate and make wrong use of these cards. The cases of fraud associated with credit cards are rising along with its user group. 

Making cash flow simpler: 

Credit-card-based purchases can be categorized as physical card and  virtual card. In a physical-card based purchase, the cardholders presents his card physically to a merchant for making a payment, in case another user is swiping the stolen or lost card , it can lead to substantial loss to the original card holder or the credit card company. In the latter purchase, only some important information about a card (card number, expiration date, secure code) is required in order to make the payment. 

Such purchases are normally done on the Internet or over the telephone. To commit fraud in these types of purchases, fraudsters require to know the card details.  The only way to detect this kind of fraud is to analyze the spending patterns on every card and to figure out any inconsistency with respect to the “usual” spending patterns.

Conclusion: 

Here, we model the sequence of operations in credit card transaction processing using a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and show how it can be used for the detection of frauds. An HMM is initially trained with the normal behavior of a cardholders. If an incoming credit card transaction is not accepted by the trained HMM with sufficiently high probability, it is considered to be fraudulent. At the same time, we try to ensure that genuine transactions are not rejected. We present detailed experimental results to show the effectiveness of our approach and compare it with other techniques available in the literature.

Central Authentication Registry A Web Services Project

Description: 

The name CAR  refers to a software package that implements the sign- on protocol. The Central Authentication Registry (CAR) is a single sign-on protocol for the web. Its purpose is to permit a user to log into multiple applications simultaneously and automatically. It also allows web applications to authenticate users without gaining access to a user’s security credentials, such as a password.REGISTRY-A-WEB-SERVICES-PROJECT

 Functions: 

The name CAR also refers to a software package that implements this protocol. Companies face several problems in order to distribute the sign in parameters to every plausible person. Today’s companies have multiple applications and departments accessed by several employees. IN order to make an application accessible the employee is required, however, the sign –in parameters for each application vary and distributing these parameters to all the employees is a difficult task. 

The users face similar problems in case the employee doesn’t provide them with an appropriate sign-in or the wrong parameters to sign –in an application. These problems have been identified and the appropriate solutions have been programmed in CAR software package. 

Conclusion: 

This project should be implemented using Web Services or WCF technology only. The biggest organizations the User credentials will be centralized in a registry for the access of different applications the Authentication details will be retrieved from the registry (usually Lotus Notes Domino or Windows Active Directory) and based on Credentials the applications access role will be provided. 

The system can be accessed over the internet and makes the overall employee login access management easier and flexible. The user information can be stored in centralized registry which can be maintained by the system. This enhances the security control as the user’s information and date is stored in the server machine. Only registered users can access the particular application since authentication is provided.

When a user makes a reservation or a cancellation it is identified as “reserve in file “or “cancel in file.” This information is accepted and the details are restored in the passenger data base, which does not cause any hindrance to the customer. 
Conclusion: 

The web based “airline reservation system” project is just another attempt to stimulate the basic concepts of airline reservation system.  The system follows a simple process which allows the passenger to check availability of flights by entering the two travel cities, namely the “Departure city” and “Arrival city”.

Once this is done if the seats are available the system asks the customer to enter his details such as name, address, city, state, credit card number and contact number. Then it checks the validity of card and book the flight and update the airline database and user database.

In this project Web portal system for student information system the student information is classified into three modules viz login module, administrator module and student module. The login module is used for entry to the website with provision of various functions and facilities. In the administrator module there are two parts: one is for entry, update or deletion of student. The second part is for issuing notices, internal results etc.   

In the student module, once the student enters his id and password, he can access other pages. If profile view is clicked, he can update his personal detail. In the notice view he can check out all notices. The link to the attendance view student can access his attendance details. There are links to internal exam results and also the time table.

Conclusion:

The software used to design this project is the Java-2 Enterprise edition (J2EE). In this every component can be selectively designed and a multilayered distributed application model. It’s a secured software and flexible in nature too. By making use of this software and its several components this project can be successfully designed.

This project is designed with a set of modules and each module has a specific role to play. The main modules are company module, distributor module and a stock depot module. This modular approach was adapted by the above mentioned software and hence depicted in the project.

Description:

In the project, the company registration module is used for registering the company with the site after which the company is provided with a user id and password. The product module is used for the creation and maintenance of different products manufactured by company. The stock deposit module plays the role of assigning user ids to stock depots as well as maintaining track of stock depots. The distributor module creates and maintaining distributors and allotting them stock depot.

The order processing module aids in the generation of purchase orders and submit the order to the stock depot. The packing list module creates packing list by stock depots on the basis of orders by distributors. The invoicing module creates invoices based on packing lists which is dispatched to distributors and prepared by stock depots. The reporting and analyzing module keeps the track of the entire  process.

Conclusion:

The project’s software was implemented and tested and conclude that it is error free. In this project, the main consideration is stock transfer. By providing a user id and password to the company it prevents unauthorized access. Also, additional modules can be added to the project when necessary. The important advantage of this project is that it can be combined with another package easily.

They are unit testing, integration testing, system testing, acceptance testing, white box testing and black box testing. The project described here is flexible and changes can be incorporated. The system can be maintained easily without much rework. In the future an option for attaching files could be built. Furthermore, options such as chatting and mobile alerts could be provided for the benefit of the user.
