Investigation and Critical Analysis of the Effects of Various Storage Media on Computer and Network Security

This study provided the detailed information on the storage media, the computers networks and the different types of the storage devices. This study specifies the different types of the networked storage such as DAS- direct attached storage, NAS- network attached storage and SAN- storage area network. This research even provided the information on the different types of the storage devices along with their vulnerabilities. According to this study the security is one of the major challenge for any type of the technology. Each and every individual company or the organization will have its own significant which is so confidential and stored by using some storage devices. In most of the situations the data stored in the devices is affected with some threats and security issues.

The main threats are that the storage devices are more vulnerable to the attacks and the there is no guarantee for the information stored in the storage devices which are more vulnerable. The main reason for this the unauthorized access of the data by the different types of the users and they will attack the other user information stored in an easy way by using some hacking techniques. There are different types of the existing storage devices in order to store and secure the information and data. For this reason the specific storage device should be selected according to the standard and significance of the data which is to be stored.

Memories of the solid state are becoming rapidly the medium which is dominant for storage of information in digital systems. Because of the occurrence of the different types of the vulnerabilities there are even some networked storage devices that can be used to store the data such as the DAS, NAS and SAN. This networked storage is even having vulnerabilities but they are better than some of the other networked storage devices. There is a need to follow different types of the measures in order to protect the data by selecting the appropriate storage device.
