Ad hoc Network CSE Seminar Report

It is a wireless technology in mobile network for communication. Mobile network can be classified into infrastructure and infrastructure less network. Infrastructure network are those which uses wire for communication whereas in infrastructure less network we don’t use wire and mobile ad hoc network (MANET) technology is one of them. Mobile ad hoc network is oriented from DARPA packet radio network (PRNet) and SURAN network. MANET supports multicasting transmission of data at a time. It has improved deployment, it is highly flexible and cost is very low.

Challenges in routing and multicasting: – It has a multihop routing because of limited propagation range of wireless nodes. It introduced a technology that supports online gaming and video conferencing for that we require multicast which has spread all over the world. It has dynamic topologies, in which the multi-hop is highly dynamic and unpredictable. Its bandwidth is low than the wired technology. It the node may go in energy saving mode and does not support user. Its security is limited.

Contribution: – it introduces On Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP). The performance of ODMRP is improved by applying many paths. It has a robust protocol for mobility.

Related Work: – Ad hoc network are classified into three categories that are Proactive Protocols which is also known as table driven protocol. It maintains all the routes between nodes in the network. Second is Reactive protocol, they are also known as on-demand protocol. They do the searching of routes between nodes if they are needed and they require less control traffic to maintain the routes. And the third one is hybrid protocol, they are also known as Zero routing protocol and they are the combination of proactive protocols and reactive protocols. They maintain the group of nodes for routing.
